a friend of mine bought that HL full package on steam he played a little multiplayer and singleplayer later it @#!@# up he cant play single playerhow to fix that?

Uninstall, wipe the GCF, and reinstall.
Just start from a blank slate, the game's only 400 megabytes.

Delete the game folder, ignore soup miner's GCF deletion suggestion, it's useless.
Soup, not everybody has high speed connections, 400 Mb's can be a lot to certain people. While Ninja doesn't strike me as even being in that group, it's still stupid to suggest removal of the GCF, there's no point to that as you can't even modify GCF files, and in the even something actually happened to the GCF files, just validate and you're good to go, no need to completely redownload.
