For those that don't know, the latest Minecraft release allows you to customize the randomly generated worlds by setting the seed that's used for the generation yourself.

On that note, I thought it might be interesting to see what comes when we use our usernames as the seeds.

I got a rather unimpressive surface but the underground is crazy.

So do we get to meet a buggy rectangle if we seed it with "Ash"? Oh boy, sometimes I crack myself up.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of worlds those clever than me will be generating once they figure out exactly how the name is seeded.

What was that program you were using to fly around the world?

It's called Minecraft X-ray. You can explore your world (only that which you have rendered in game) and see what's below the surface. It can also highlight all the key blocks (coal, redstone, obsidian, diamond, etc.) to you can see where deposits are. I just used FRAPS to record it.

This is weird, lately every image I see hosted at imageshack gets automatically replaced by this:Attempting to copy its address and pasting to address bar gets it redirected to http://imageshack.us/img/blocked_login.jpg . Fuck imageshack.

Interesting, don't think it's enough to get me playing again, but I might check out that x-ray tool. It'd be more fun if I had friends to play with.
