Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce the most exciting playable game still in development since Minecraft.

Kerbal Space Program.

Build your own space vehicle in a Spore-like building environment, then take on a surprisingly competent physics engine and see if you can get into space and even enter a stable orbit.

There's an incredible amount of content yet to come including missions and hundreds more items to craft into spaceships, but even in its current pre-alpha state it's incredibly fun.

It's free to play at the moment, or you can pre-order it for the low low price of $7US and receive all future updates ala minecraft.

Here's one I'm quite proud of - the HMS Hunteh and its maiden voyage.

Finished construction.

A lot of the graphics are still placeholder, but it's well worth playing regardless. Post your creations!

That sounds completely and utterly awesome. The only reason I ever wanted Garry's Mod was because of Spacebuild. I like the idea of building rockets.

Played it a couple of weeks ago, for as much as i love rockets and space, it was suggested to me by another TWHL member who i can't remember. It's a fun little "simulator". I put that in quotes because this game is nowhere to be compared with simulators like Orbiter and Space Shuttle Mission 2007 so it's not to be taken serious as it's more about playing with physics, thus making it more like a casual game.

It's funny that rockets launch without receiving damage from acoustical energy caused by the exhaust because there's no flame trench on the launchpad to deflect the exhaust away from the rocket.

I hope they add a lot more detail to the entire complex and go a little bit more realistic, for example, adding a flame trench.
But whatever, it's about physics, so who cares.

I say try it out, it's free!

It's clearly not trying to be a super serious sim, though, muzzeh. I mean look at the little astronaut characters. They're hilarious :D

I think it's just realistic enough to be very challenging, while still being silly enough to be very fun. It gives you a lot of freedom to mess about which those other sims you linked to don't appear to.

Apologies for the lack of anti-aliasing:

My new rocket, codename 'Altimonster'

A name well deserved. (Look at Jebediah, the crazy bastard!)

[Edit] I decided to leave that ship going for a few hours, and it had only slowed to about 2200m/s. I've got a feeling it would end up in deep space. Or the sun.
