So I thought valve only removed bunny hopping in counterstrike by making you get tired after jumping but after checking out a forum I found that it's removed from all new versions of hl.

Does anyone know any settings or way I can bunny hop besides joining a server that enables it.

Someone said just get the disc version but if I installed it I wonder if it would even work. Any ideas?

I would like to bunny hop in single player hl. Of course online would be nice too, i'll look for servers.

I only know for CS bunny hopping, not sure if you mean LongJumpModule abuse?

Bunny hopping, not long jump.

Well, that TFC server I used to play on is screwed.

Yea I heard tfc still allows it.

Yep. Similar to how the HL2 Vanilla versions Bunny Hop also got removed.

My disk version of Half-life that installs to D:/SIERRA allows bunny hop before the 1.009? Patch is applied. Sorry, I don't really remember the versions or which one exactly removed it. Any non-steam HL should have it as long as you no update it. =]

Bunny hopping is still perfectly possible in 1.6, along with a number of other jump-related bugs.

Yes, real bunny hop without losing speed was removed long ago maybe in 2001. You can get old WON version of HL. Or you can do what all speedrunners do, use a mod called HL Bunny Mod which enables real uncapped bhop. Search for it.

EDIT: It's called "HLSP Bunny"

You are still able to bunny in cs1.6 and css, except it takes a lot of skill and practice to master.

What skals said, bunnyhopping is ultra easy in CSS, i even get freaking banned when i do it from servers (deathrun noobs loool).

In CS1.6 its easy when you master the basics.

You can still bunny hop in 1.6? Awesome. Unfotrunately for some reason sometimes counterstrike and condition zero don't work on my laptop.

I'll have to check out the mod too, thanks Dragos!

Edit: From the vid it seems bunnyhopping in counterstrike is somewhat restricted though.

Double Edit: Ok. No. You cannot bunny hop in cs 1.6, it's completely restricted. Sure you can "think" you are. But I meant like it used to be. Not struggle hopping.

Installing team fortress and then searching for mod.

It's restricted, but there's ways to bypass that. You can still gain speed, etc.

This guide is probably the most in-depth one available, covering every movement bug in 1.6.

Dude! Edgebug is win!

Except I can't do it.

Just practice, and dont get your hopes up high, some of those long jumps and things are pretty sick.

Can you do edgebug? I was trying on bounce. But in single player mode, perhaps it has to be in a server?

Bunny hopping is still possible, you just can't gain ridiculous speed like you used to be able to back in WON days.

To bunny hop without a script, most players use "bind mwheelup +jump" or you can use down. Also you need to learn how to air strafe. Basically you don't hold W, but instead you move like a snake, while holding A and move the mouse to the left then alternating to holding D move it to the right and back and forth.

If you need to boost your speed you hold duck, and release it right before hitting the ground.

EDIT: zeeba-G No body can do the edge-bug or jump-bug(this one is when you let go of duck just before hitting the ground to avoid damage) consistently, it's incredibly hard and requires fluke precision.

One other note, most newbs don't know, but if a wall is above around 120 units, running 10 units near the edge will apply edge friction and slow you down, bhopping avoids this friction, so does count-jumping, an advanced KZ technique.

As kraken said, there are many jump types, and in general, bhopping isnt worth the effort, unless playing on a deathrun server.

You can see pros utilizing it in clan matches every now and then for faster/more fluid movement around the map. Train is a perfect example - they often use it to quickly skim over the cars in the trainyards.

Oh ok. And yea daubster I think I remember people doing that on train. All I was getting at Kraken was that bunnyhopping isn't what it used to be. And was wondering where you can do it the old way, but that's been answered. And its ashame, the edgebug was so cool. It was only on the jumpbug that they mentioned it being near impossible, but I guess it pertains to both.
