This mod introduces a whole new gamemode to half-life a battlefront/counter-strike game style with teams Aliens and Humans with classes to choose from and enhanced VGUI menus. The maps will be divided up into 2 parts the main battlefront and xen so the aliens would have to teleport to the battle. Vehicles will be added in the future when i figure out how to make them.

I also need beta testers and some people who can make the main menu for steam version and 2d art designer

Seems simple enough, but there wouldn't be a large variation of weapons. I would see certain human units only having one possible weapon, and I'd think they'd have an advantage unless you make the bee-gun do the same amount of damage. I think this looks pretty good, I'm in.

Dimbark:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the different units in Battlefront-style games supposed to be specialized? Of course balancing sides would be a bit of an issue, but units only having one weapon (plus sidearm) is not a problem, it's the point.

Best of luck making this!

I, for one thought NS was generic and boring. I hope this project doesn't turn out the same. I'll be watching this project. Good luck.

This mod introduces a whole new gamemode to half-life
There's your problem.
Multiplayer Goldsource mods are pointless now because multiplayer games require several active servers to remain active and Goldsource just doesn't have the playerbase required for a new mod to break into the "market".

If there are no active, populated servers players will download the mod, try the maps alone and then never play it again.

Even Source multiplayer mods have this problem, and Source is a far more popular engine. At least if you made it in Source you'd have a chance to break through, though. In Goldsource, you'll never manage. Don't waste your time.

Edit:
Also vehicles in Goldsource suck in 100% of cases. What were you thinking?

I dunno, I thought the tanks in Gunman were easy to control.

well for now im doing this mod but later when i get my new comp ill make an hl2 one combine vs rebels battlefield gameplay type, drivable dropships , gunships, helicopters and the combine can play as an advisor, and customized classes and the rebels would get military aircraft

Dimbark did not write that, Archie did. I think he'll find that slightly offensive.

Cs 1.6 still has a couple thousand servers.

sigh. sail past the point, why don't ya?

cs was released, what, 11 years ago? And it was massively popular and genre defining. It gained a huge following many of whom still play it to this day.

What i said was that a new goldsource mod can't break into the market because goldsource is nowhere near popular enough anymore for it to have a high enough number of active servers.

cs players play cs. they don't migrate.

I have to agree with Archie, GoldSrC mods wont get the popularity today with new gamers...

Also, Game tracker has 30 000 CS servers in their data base (the ones that are not disqualified for using BOTs instead of players), and who knows how much more servers exist.

well there certainly are other countries with facilities using pirated fake steam apps that only have counter strike installed. really many more people play CS than gametracker can keep track of

Even non-mods have dwindling servers and players. Take Opposing Force for example. With less than 20 servers and more than half of those empty most of the time. That game was fun, personally I liked it better than standard Half-Life DM with CTF and the new weapons, but now even as an official game it's dying out.
