I've been playing LoL almost exclusively for about a year now.
If any of you happen to play on the American server, friend me up. I'm tired of jungling for whining dicks.

What is League of Legends? LoL is the TF2 of DOTA.

I was trolling my team on HoN the other day, then about 20 mins into the match, I noticed that [S2]Malikan was on the other team (the owner of the game company).

Needless to say that account is no longer.

I play as "Zeratus", and for some time I played on the west server, but recently I moved to east.

Playing LoL with your friends is a dangerous attempt at having good time. From my own experience, I advise you: do not think you'll have a good time every time you play LoL with your friends.

I play HoN, currently 1800+ ranking. Favourite hero is Torturer, a better version of Leshrac from dota.

This hero: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVcnC-hMVvg

Sadly, but understandably he has been nerfed a fair bit over past years. They halved his impalement damage to towers, lowered his nukes damage, decreased the cast range, increased cooldown, but they have also slightly buffed his strength gain which was so good because he really needs to get right in the middle of battles.

Playing one hero ? This is so LoL like, its business model encourages ppl to play one hero.

I have heard LoL is a fair bit more casual than HoN, no creep denying right? Sounds absolutely absurd to a HoN player like me, wouldn't it basically be like free farming?

Also playing one hero is a joke if you actually want to become a decent player. How the hell can you read your opponents if you never play the heroes/champions they are playing.

Seems to me that you're contradicting yourself kraken. You are unmasking the reason why LoL is not at all casual in your post :).

I'm playing LoL since December 2009, and I had the opportunity to play with lots of champions, and even so I haven't tested them all(that's why it's good to watch the "Champion Spotlight" and read its abilities when a new one is released). That's how you can be prepared against enemy champions.

I've been lucky to have over 6300 IP when the new champ, Jayce, appeared. It rocks! :D

Well to be honest, DotA and HoN, and all MOBA's are pretty much the least casual games on the planet as you have to learn over 100 characters inside out to become even a shit player.

So to clarify, LoL is definitely not casual being a MOBA, but far MORE casual than HoN and DotA as you have less ways to slow down farm, which essentially, make the game less about skill and more about investment. I've actually heard from a lot of people HoN is faster thus also seeming harsher than DotA.

Absolutely not. I'm not sure if the terminology is the same, but in LoL that's called "zoning".

Can you kill your own creep or not ?

To clarify, in DotA and HoN you can start attacking your own creeps when they are below 50% health, if you land the killing blow on your own creep, the enemy obviously get no gold and about half the experience.

You can also deny towers when they are below 10% health, the other team all get 100 gold instead of 200-350.

"zoning"
Zoning in LoL is just a lane tactic, where you prevent your enemy from taking experience points. But this is achieved by letting their minions fight and kill your own, you can't kill your own minions. There's a really popular tutorial, with a memorable voice, done by "Shurelia" on Zoning.
Although a good tactic, as the victim this is the most annoying thing that can happen since you are forced to stay and watch the unfairness. It also slows the game a bit.
To clarify, in DotA and HoN you can start attacking your own creeps when they are below 50% health, if you land the killing blow on your own creep, the enemy obviously get no gold and about half the experience.
That is certainly incomprehensible, at least for a LoL player like me. It destroys gameplay value, and it's just not fair.
Afaik, in LoL the only champion that can deny is Gangplank, by using one of his abilities.

You cant deny players only creeps and towers. You can suicide with one and one hero can deny you. If youre too lazy to push A and select a creep to deny go play LoL else Dota or HoN.

Think that was his really realllllly old skillset.

Anyway, ATDestroy on NA server.

I've played this game, a LOT. I probably won't play nearly as much now that I've got a job.

Ah, that clears things up. I didn't know about any friendly fire mechanics in DOTA.

Yeah some heroes also have skills that deny creeps in DotA/HoN, like tempest/enigma and plague rider/lich. Heroes can also be denied only when below 5-10% life and with DoT (damage over time) still on them, which makes very good sense for multiple reasons if you think about it.

Also if any one would like DotA 2, I have 4 invites currently.

Edit: WTF at the other teams katarina. Also I just remembered in LoL when picking from the hero pool, only heroes on your team can't be picked, where as in HoN and DotA if a hero is picked the other team can't get it. Drafting teams is a real art and is one of if not the most important part of the competitive scene.

Ha, ATD. I saw you online for that game.

There's two modes in LoL. Blind pick let's you pick anyone who hasn't already been picked by your team, but you can't see who the enemy team is picking. LoL also has draft pick, though, and ranked games are draft pick only.

Edit: Just came from a 19/4/11 game as Shaco and followed it up with a 1/5/2 Skarner game. That's enough LoL for tonight.

there is an advantage while playing in draft mode, u can counter pick your enemy by picking the better one champion, i have been playing ranked games because they are more difficult than normal games

There's a fairly decent third party solution to recording LoL game replays. Granted its third party, but its pretty solid until replays become a feature in the game client.

Really fun game guys, looks really promising, might even take a break from HoN for a while.

Edit: I have beta keys, first come, first served!
