The title just about says it all, but the front page is very unappealing to new visitors. I'll be the 1st to admit, its the tutorials that brought me here, but other sites I visit keep me there with active content.

This is a strong community, but it's not getting very much new blood. Front page news should be relevant to anything Source/GoldSrc, right now it's a news post from April, and a MOTM from July.

If you need more mod's here, I'm sure you can ask some of the regulars and they would be glad to help keep this site fresh. I'm not suggesting any huge changes, keep the current theme; just stay current.

the motm is up to date.

Lets use the current July one as an example:

Voting for july's motm can't be done until august, else all the possible submissions wouldn't be there. because of how slow this community is, it was felt necessary to allow an entire month for voting.

It's now September and voting for july's motm is over meaning the review process can begin. All of the review team have jobs and other commitments, so again a whole month is allowed...

It's October 1st and the reviews are published. Nobody reads or watches them and absolutely nobody comments on them resulting in the review team wondering why they bother.
Of course that doesn't matter either since there were ZERO votes from the community in July anyway, so clearly nobody would miss the feature if we just stopped.

I would miss it. I just rarely vote because I feel it would be unfair to vote without having played all the entries first, something which I rarely get a chance to do, even with a month of time.

I watch the MOTM reviews.
I just never have any constructive comments to make.

Fuck the reviews. Play the map, have fun, and record it.

The news should be updated. maybe one of the mods could write up some editorials on current news from valve or similar; anything is better than news from months ago, really.

There is a decently wide user base, and an incredible number of talented people here, but they rarely poke their head up and participate. find out why, fix it, and let the best times roll

As I've said , and i'm sure a lot of people do, I watch all the reviews, but I just never have anything to comment on them, mostly because they are pretty spot on. From now on though, to show we actually do watch them, I'll be voting every month for MOTM.

In the news, we should lie to people, like there is a map coming to candy mountain or whatnot, something to spur excitement, and/or awe =P

the motm are fine imo, they just need to be promoted better.
