Here's a cool series of videos my cousin shared with me. Definitely worth checking out, very entertaining and inspiring!

It's interesting to the point that brain waves can be interpreted by our peers, but that whole mess of "our emotions literally create our reality" is nonsense.
And it's nothing new. There was a series of books on this idea several years ago (i forget the name). It was widely regarded as nonsense.

I winced when his response to "why are there starving kids" was "because Westerners are hogging resources".
No, that's a fucking stupid excuse if you also want to assert that our emotions are directly tied to our physical reality.

To be fair, I only watched the first "episode," but I was completely turned off to the whole thing by the end.

Right, so if their is less proof known opposing a verdict then cleary the original must be correct...

That's like saying if i'm not supposed to go this way, then the opposite is correct against the billion other choices. It's like a semi educated assumption. Go ahead and abide by that assinine logic but don't try to offend someone that presents no hostility in a friendly suggestion.

The entire thing is misleading from the very beginning. It's labelled as "Science" and yet is definitely nothing close to it at all. Even the attempted scientific "evidence" at the end of the first episode (where I also stopped) is completely lacking in any scientific process once you actually read up about it. It was just a clever entrepreneur who published phoney experiment results in order to sell ridiculously overpriced water to people who believed it was true.

Until something can be proved by actual reproducible and peer-reviewed scientific evidence, it's just something that somebody has made up. Especially so with stuff that borders on religion, because there's is absolutely no empirical data that can be used to base those claims off. Faith is something that cannot be proved (by definition), and everybody has their own ideas on that.

I very much agree that there are most likely parts of the universe that we do no have the technology or knowledge to detect, but to use that as "proof" that some sort of mystical ESP spirit world exists is complete nonsense. You'll find that the so-called "interpreted brain waves" are really just a combination of familiarity with that person, knowledge of their thoughts or beliefs, and recognising tones in their voice and body language. It's pretty cool that we are able to do that with the senses we have, but there's no evidence of any sort of collective consciousness and it's silly to assume that it exists just because you think it's a nice idea.

I fully respect people who choose to believe in whichever religion they want, it's their choice. However passing it off as science is just ridiculous unless you have evidence that can be reproduced via the scientific method.

I will admit, it is a bit skewed towards religeon than science. If you're really interested in this sort of thing, go for the slightly more scientificically approached area of Quantum Mechanics. I will admit that even though Quantum mechanics has lots of holes, it also makes a few interesting points.

Emotions do not alter our reality. Emotions alter our perception of reality which in turn alters how we react to reality and our actions alter our reality and the reality of others. Reality only exists when we perceive it, if we aren't perceiving it then, to us, there are infinite possibilities to that reality and when we return to perceiving it, our mind fills in the gap with the best approximation we can acheive.

It a frustrating topic and definately not solid science, but I think it's an interesting theory.

Watch a movie called "What the Bleep Do We Know". It's a very good (and somewhat enteraining for a doco) crash course in Quantum Mechanics, but like they say at the beginning of the movie: Your interpretation of Quantum Mechanics, or any similar theory, is determined by how far down the rabbit hole you want to go.

[EDIT] Ok, I've watched it until 20:00, and he started talking about chakras. This is a new topic for me, although I've heard about this before.
Now this is why I talked about fairness. Some people might call this bullshit, but if you analyze it a bit, it might not be.

I would like to talk so much on this subject, but I know that I can say wrong things and perhaps make other people furious.

I think that those chakras are a spiritual expression for lots of factors that science can't individually treat. It's the same for thinking: we can do maths. But science breaks down when it tries to understand HOW we do maths in our head, because that part of the science that tries to do that is just another human tool that is poorly developed at the moment. I also don't want to rule out the actual existence of a spiritual world, but being christian(no, I don't really like organized religion) I have different opinions.
Before we would start sharing religious opinions or even definite answers, there needs to be a collective acceptance that this subject can be debated without generating negative emotions.

Zeeba-G, I learned that you can't tell this to a person who acts like that. Although they don't realize, they put quite a bit of emotion in what they say.

The amount of "thumbs up" on the video is frightening. As soon as they mentioned Masaru Emoto's experiments I googled it, just to find any documentary of it. but I found nothing of scientific value. A simple google search was enough to find out that the experiments were invalid.

People need to learn to be more criticising. People seem to accept anything they hear.

Science doesn't break down, it just hasn't covered it yet. We only quite recently started understanding how the mind works, and we are making good progress. And also, just because science can't explain it (for now or never) then that doesn't mean that you can fill in the blanks with whatever you want.

The fact about science is that for me it seems cold without... call it spirituality or whatever you want it, but we just accumulate knowledge and accumulate knowledge... and then what?

On a slightly unrelated topic,
For me, the current evolution of the gaming market leads to an inevitable near future where a lot of immersions devices will be available. This will probably go hand in hand with neuroscience progress, and at some point we will simply be able to "switch" to a virtual world. Will we become living vegetables then?
I don't want to lie, I can't wait to try such immersion devices, but I'm bothered by the question if this is right or wrong.

I don't see how that's the same thing Striker. I mean, you say that it breaks down once it tries to understand it. I say that it can't break down because there is not enough data on it.
A real example of when science actually breaks down would be when you mix relativity with quantum physics. Or at least it used to, I'm not really read up on string theory. But that's another topic.

I believe science is a lot about the chase, and I also believe that we will never hear the end of it. There will always be a chase, and the knowledge we gather gives us the ability to do great things, like going to the moon! I'm fine with you thinking that the world is dull without spirituality, but for me all I need is the beauty of science, and the universe. It surprises me enough every day to want me to keep staying alive.

At the beginning of many of these videos it says don't take them as truth but consider them as possible. One long section is even said to be untrue...

I read up on astral projection and it's basically where you have an out of body experience. It is "projected ;)" to be beautiful and fun but from what i've actually read it can get really creepy!

They act as though it is all fun and great but certain people who have experienced it mention negative entities for example when a girl was trying to exit her body which is the hardest part, three entities were trying to pull her out of her body. And when she returned to her room, an entity was waiting begging for her energy so she cast light into her room and the entity continued begging from outside her window!

At 1:37 there's a cool cartoon that they try to show the so called beauty of astral projection. Watch what it says after it and it's credits about not believing spirit science...

Ok, I've reached the part where they show a picture of the Sphinx(I was there, it's at 2 km altitude) and says that there are tunnels from Romania to Egypt.

What the fuck?

Yea a lot of it is probably bullshit, but they admit some isn't true.
