Vanilla, chocolate, or other?

I'll start by letting everyone know that vanilla is superior and that your opinion is wrong.
Posted 11 years ago2013-01-06 20:49:44 UTC Post #312064
I think Chocolate and Vanilla can't be debated, because either of them offer a different kind of stimuli.

Well... it depends what you mean. For the purposes of argument, I shall assume you are referring to ice-cream.

The store-bought chocolate is indeed typically far from nicer than vanilla. However, using vanilla, chocolate can be created from it, or can be augmented into it, in such a way that it is better. There are many ways to do this... mixing with Milo (or whatever the international equivalent is, I don't know how widespread it is), chocolate flakes, those hard-setting toppings...

That said, my favourite ice-cream creations are vanilla mixed with milk powder (try it, tastes very nice) and vanilla mixed with a cereal we have here called Special-K (gotta try something like it, quite unique texture).

One could argue that simply because vanilla can be used as a base for a far greater number of creations, including chocolate itself, that vanilla is superior.
I do.

Vanilla ice cream with strawberries or cloudberries, or chocolate ice cream with banana slices.

Actually, I want to change my vote to ice cream.
Not any specific flavour, just ice cream in general.
Ice cream.

In the context of ice cream, in general I think vanilla is superior, but nothing beats high quality chocolate ice cream. Although CT is right. When it comes to Ben & Jerry's, the particular flavour doesn't matter so much, although I am rather fond of both Phish Food and Baked Alaska.

In the context of cake, chocolate is a nice type to have once in a while, but vanilla flavoured plain cake is a nice all-round snack.

In the context of Coca-Cola, Vanilla is awesome and I wish they still sold it here. Chocolate Coke isn't even a thing.

Actually, now you've reminded me, I've been meaning to ask.

Cherry Coke is practically unheard of here in Australia, with a current exception as they've brought out a limited-time Cherry Zero.

Zero or not, I can't stand the taste of the stuff. It's 'orrible! Do any of you guys actually like the stuff?

I don't drink soda much, but dang coca-cola is so sugary and effervescent, how can you not enjoy a delicious coca-cola? :P
In the context of cake
Oh my did someone say cake? Red velvet layer cake with a cherry cream cheese or similar frosting is my current favourite of all-time. just wonderful....

I like Cherry Coke, I always felt it tasted kinda like Dr. Pepper. I don't drink soda very often though, and when I do it's usually just plain Coke or Pepsi.

Coca-Cola in general is good stuff, though I have to say that Vanilla Coke is the best.

How about this?
White, milk or dark chocolate?

For me it depends on what it's in exactly, but in general I would say milk chocolate. White chocolate can be really nice, although it tends to be better to eat as chocolate, rather than as a flavouring.
Although the other day I had some white chocolate Lindt balls with pieces of roast cocoa bean, they were really nice.

Chocolate is composed of several linearly independent ingredients. Span of those ingredients equals to the great powers of abstraction. This space is fucking weird.

Though nobody can imagine a 4th dimension...

Did anyone see my chocolate chips?
