I turned widescreen on in counterstrike cz on my laptop and the resolution is huge/ larger than the screen. In options I am unable to turn widescreen off because I cannot see it in my window, anyone know the console command to turn it off if there is one or another way?

Go to shortcut options and add this in target field, out side the quotation marks:

-width 800 -height 640

Example:

D:\counterstrike16\hl.exe -console -game cstrike -width 800 -height 640

Than once you've set the resolution in the options to what you want again, remove this from your shortcut.
Also, if you have steam, use the steam start up console.

I tried this which launches the game but didn't affect the size. steam://rungameid/80 -console -width 800 -height 640

Try just:

-w 800

Example:

steam://rungameid/80 -console -w 800

Try the -stretchaspect argument. It may have the side-effect of fitting the viewport to your screen.

Someone want to try to log into my steam account and see if they can turn it off?

What i would try:
1. delete everything in your user/condition zero folder, EXCEPT czero, and in czero delete everything besides the game folders, i.e., maps/models/wads/etc. (den start up the game and let steam rebuild the missing files.

2. i would just completely uninstall/reinstall cz. it's not that big and will reinstall in 3 seconds, just of course again, backup your maps/models/sprites/models/etc if you have anything important in der.

3. Fuck with the registry? idk if you can delete these values in the registry like you can with hammer, and since i know so little about regediting, i'd try this last.

Don't fuck with the registry. You can mess-up the entire system.

As CT said, copy CSCZ resources somewhere and completely remove it from installation location. Than install it again, copying resources back into it.
(resources such as GFX, MODELS, MAPS, etc.)

Since they share content with eachother, you'll most likely have to uninstall ALL HL1 based games to fix it.

Yea I had already tried uninstalling and reinstalling. The settings are still in widescreen.

Than its registry time:

Start > Run window > regedit

\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Half-Life\Settings

Find your game and find widescreen registry value, set it to 0.

300x400 isn't even a valid resolution in the new version of the engine. Use 640x480.
