Hello guys.
I'm really glad that I joined a great community like this one.

Now for my problem..
I'm trying to make a Deathrun map but looks like it's more complicated than I thought.
I know all of the VHE basics, and I have made a lot of de_ and cs_ maps.
So I'm asking for a Deathrun Mapping Tutorial.

I also want to know how to use the func_door_rotation in some advanced situations, like making spinning platforms and etc, deathrun traps you know :D

Thank you in advance. Sorry for asking such a hard question :D

As far as a tutorial idk...If you have a specific thing you are trying to do, pretty much anyone here is qualified to help with creative use of the HL entities.

Also you can always try to contact the authors of deathrun maps here and on other sites, and ask for some pointers.

Another thing you can do is decompile your favourite deathrun maps, not to steal, but to see how things are done ;)

I actually did that before, didn't quiet help me.
I can PM DR map makers but making a tutorial would be way more better.
Like just show us how to make basic traps, and tell us how func_door_rotating works, and then we will move to advanced traps on our own :D

Experiment - Trial and error.

You don't need to create an entire fully functioning Deathrun map to see if traps work. I literally have 100s of example maps full of myself testing lighting, small to large entity sequences, etc.

Just make a small box map and don't go mad as you will be compiling often. Create a contraption you think works and make small changes. Seriously, you'll learn a lot about mapping, even if the contraption is useless.

Sort of off-topic: I personally can't stand Deathrun as the maps contain trick traps, most of the time. Trapdoor on the floor? I think not! Spinning blade falls from the roof. Wonderful. I spend the next 5 minutes waiting for those who have played the map 100 times before, to win it. It might just be a/my bad experience.

Well I've been mapping for about 6 months for dr now and I've played the mod all the way from its creation. I can tell there are no good deathrun mapping tutorials.

I learned by asking some friends that have mapped longer than me, and you will learn to do basic traps really fast. When you want to try create something new and unique that will always take more time.

Couple of the mappers that helped me are on this site too, if they see this thread they will most likely help you out :)

Commander is correct.
I can give you my Deathrun Lab 16 RMF for you to experiment with if you want?
