Hey Atom, can you please make a decently zoomable screenshot of the current map? It's nice to see our progress. Also, what about a download link to its current state?
Would be nice to do this once a week :D.

I'll see what I can do. I'd use Cartograph G but it hasn't been updated to support 1.6 yet. :/

If you're talking about an interactive world viewer using the Google Maps interface, give some suggestions, these are pretty tough to set up.

Not all of the tools are outdated. This page has many of them and shows what versions they support.

Some odd structures in the sea to the north east. Might need to investigate.

Is that a hole in the water to the right of the top left isle?
Posted 10 years ago2013-07-28 22:02:27 UTC Post #314535
It's a very small dessert village (lost a lot of stuff and died twice investigating that  ), and south is a witch's hut, which someone already got to (dirt stairs). The odd formation south-west of there is a 'house' made of leaf blocks.

The other interesting stuff is the coloured splotches. Orange are pumpkins, lime green are melons and the white is snow.

Didn't check out the hole cuz I just wanted to get home...so much lost .

I post this, in the hopes that I can save the lives of others, and their stuff.

That there you see my friends, is my leaf built replica of a L shaped village house. That goes to show how completely off I was when I thought I was at Karlsland. SHIZER!

Mystery solved. All things considered though, you weren't too far off. Head south-east just over the hill and you're there.

FYI, I found a stone shovel and pick axe, yellow flowers and seeds, lying on the ground on my way by and put them in the chest.

We also need roads as soon as horses are abundant.

That would make more sense if we could invent the wheel to attach wagons to the horses. But horses alone are kind of an off-road vehicle.

A friend of mine made a server-side plugin that could turn grass into dirt if you walked on them enough. You could configure how much "enough" was. I could ask her if she still keeps it updated.

As spread out as we are over the water, we will need bridges. Horses can swim while carrying you in Minecraft.

bridges definitely. at least some kind of cleared/level pathing to each area.

Was worth all the hell I went through for the fancy cobble generator I built. It would have been full auto, but there's too much lag. Makes a nice even stack in a few seconds - harvesting takes time of course.

Do you need anything more than a lever and a piston?
Posted 10 years ago2013-07-30 02:16:08 UTC Post #314572
16 pistons, 16 obsidian, 8 lava and water, a bunch of redstone, normally its simple enough but this time was a pain in the ass. I think I was under prepared and armored.

Volpe is working on an underground minecart track to spawn from our little island. Can go to other places if you want.

I don't, that's why I was poking fun. You mine the space that says 'MINE HERE' and it regenerates.

That's old school.

Server is back on.
And trying to kill me! It didn't warn we, so I logged in a mighty oak that I was chopping. After running like hell to bed, as I returned to darkness, I went out to finish cutting down the tree and while collecting my stuff at the end, a random creeper comes out of no where, and tries to blow me up!

I think your server may be out to get me. :zonked:

Unlike your design, this one prevents the block you're breaking from falling back into the lava.

You can extend the pit some... 12 blocks? (the max. number of blocks a piston can push) and produce 12 at once.

Yeah it's really handy. Especially because you can have placemarks to guide you back if you fly away in creative mode.

I totally did not delete a world once because I got hopelessly lost.

My first world ever, before beds were added, I died a number of times and got taken back to the spawn point. This forced me to start from scratch each time. After a while I went exploring and found a couple of my old hidey holes.

You reminded me of my very first world. I kept going out to explore and getting lost so I had to set up new bases. After a long time, I managed to find all my other bases and connected them by underground rail.

The world I did delete was in creative mode and I was building awesome stuff. Then I flew too far away and couldn't find my way back.
Posted 10 years ago2013-07-31 20:35:12 UTC Post #314624
Don't remember exactly when I started. All I remember was that it was some time after the price went up to 75% off, but pre-1.4, as cocoa beans got added to dungeon chests (after I had already explored my main world for some distance and was nearing completion of a major build).

I remember no beds... I think I got minecraft like two weeks before they added beds. It was the time when I use to make spawn my home, and never went more then 500 blocks away. XD Ahhh, the good old days.
