Advanced Host Controller Interface must be faster than the old outdated Integrated Drive Electronics interface.

I didnt experience new SSDs first handed, but even in the old days, SCSI pwned IDE/ATA.

I waited more than a year to switch my SSD's from IDE to AHCI mode. I've heard stories with BSOD from others who made the switch, so I hesitated for so long.

In reality, the change was so easy. I modified a registry key, and I made two changes in BIOS. That was it. No need to re-install the OS.

Modern OS use AHCI as primary drive communication method. I used to have an problem where i would get an blue screen, but i installed an Raid driver that solved it.

I have been using AHCI for years now. Granted there were problems with winxows xp (you had to install additional drivers as Stojke pointed out), but any normal OS supports it out of the box.

Also, wei epeen thread?

Wow, you've got some system.

I didn't even know that the WEI score goes higher than 7.9

Yeah, bought it a month and a half ago.

Regarding WEI: that's because I'm on win 8 - the scaling has changed. If I remember correctly win 7 scores up to 7.9 and windows 8 up to 9.9. Though it doesn't actually mean much.
