Hello. Last summer I upgraded to Windows 8. Bla, bla. Since then I haven't been able to play Goldsrc games. There's this odd mouse stutter that occurs, almost as if the raw input from Windows is conflicting with the games mouse sensitivity. But enabling (or disabling) raw input in the game options does nothing. Does anyone know any fixes to this? Or has anyone experienced something similar?

If it is of anyone's interest, my PC is powered by an AMD CPU and the mouse I use is a Logitech MX-518. Drivers are up to date.

Thaaaaaaaaanks.

Mouse drivers?

I am using X7 - 747H with out any windows acceleration settings modified. (Windows 8.1)
I use raw input in all source games and use sensitivity 4 in CS. Normal mouse operation with out any lag/what ever.
Even the old shitty ass logitec mouse performed excellently in TF2 and L4D2 on raw input settings.

Source games aren't an issue, and the mouse drivers are up to date. Only games running on Goldsrc are affected by this. This includes, but is not limited to: Counter-Strike 1.6, Half-Life, The Specialists, Condition Zero, Day of Defeat. It's kind of sad that I can't play my own creations.

A bit of googlin said that W8.1 has fixed an "mouse lag issue". So better update to 8.1 if you want that out.
So far i had no problems with any gold source games. Even gunman works.

I'm getting a very similar issue with my M510 playing Orcs Must Die 2 on steam, except i'm on windows 7.

I'll try to play some HL mods later and see if i can reproduce the bug with them.. (perhaps it's a steam issue with certain logietch mice/drivers, and not an issue with windows 8?)

Terror: It's highly possible it's a Logitech issue, but I've had this mouse for many, many years, but only recently made the switch to Windows 8. So it might still be an issue with Win8, just not with Goldsrc. I'll investigate. Thanks!

Stojke: My Windows is up to the latest official release, as in Windows 8.1.

I hear ya homie!

I only say something because i've been using this mouse for 2-3 years with no problems, ever, and now i'm just getting this issue with OMD2(which i've played since came out in 2012, with never a previous mouse problem) ;)

i changed batteries, updated drivers, even exchanged the mouse for a new one; basically, i tried everything and the bug still happens, AND, it only recently just started.

BTW, you still play DoD on servers? I used to play for hours and hours and hours, with the various mods that allowed you to call for artillery strikes and other fun stuff.. Ah those were the days :)

Technically, mice should use the default Microsoft mouse driver. I never saw 3rd party driver suppliers for mouse (Only in very old systems for laser mice and special multi button devices).

Check the driver in use. My computer:

Yeah. Actually, i think i just tried updating the unifying software? (not that it helped)

My driver version is actually a little older than yours--6.1.7600.16385--, so i will try to update and see if it helps, thanks :)

BTW, do you think installing the SetPoint will do anything? (i'm guessing no, but wth i might just try it)

I'm not on windows 8 but I'm having that other mouse issue. I'm on win7 64bit with a Nvidia card.

My problem is that I can't turn around all the time at a certain point it simply stops. Sometimes after 90 degrees sometimes after 180 degrees.

I've read that you need to apply this command:

m_rawinput "0"
or this
cl_mousegrab "0"

But neither of those commands worked for me any ideas what I can do otherwise Half-Life is dead for me and I'll switch back to WON why do those fools always have to mess things up? The mouse worked perfectly for years now it isn't.

First the transfer of hl into the commons folder and now this. Apparently I wasn't the only one suffering of this. Many folks had that but it seems it was fixed for them with the 2 commands posted above. But I still have it.

Update: I've just updated my own mouse drivers, graphic drivers etc. Still no luck.

Update1: Seems regarding my issue that it's any mod folder that's having that glitch at least for those that got it. I've imported my maps into the gearbox & valve folder for testing purposes. And wolla no turn around glitch anymore.

Any idea what they applied to the original games and if we can manage to apply that same fix to mod folders? At the moment only the official games are benefiting of their mouse fix that naturally is a no go for any mods using custom content.

Ps: I already tried to copy all contents of the official games into my mod folder and overwrote everything but no luck.

Try turning off "enhance pointer precision".
