I wonder how a 2 hour mapping mini compo would go. Probably followed by a mini tourney on he resulting maps.

If I get my house built sooner then by all means for sure.

My place will be perfect for such an event as it will be some sort of barndominium on land with a creek. There's a chance I won't get to build on that property though so we will see. If I build on my dad's then it will happen much sooner. My mom is contacting a lawyer today on dividing up her land.

We could totally have that competition at the LAN!

Instant, we could 3D print your models then, that is if my 3D printer is still up and running. If it isn't i'm sure i'll have another one by then.

If a proper LAN is to come out of this, you're probably going to have to supply a few PCs. Carting a PC across the country is one thing, but lugging it overseas just isn't feasible.

I have a laptop and a spare desktop I can bring. The desktop is really old but play Goldsource stuff all the same.

My brother has a laptop that plays csgo just fine i'm sure he'd lend me. He'd probably want to join in on the LAN though. My laptop almost melted last night while playing. I'll probably buy another laptop by then so I may have a few extra. Between everyone who is able to show up i'm sure we will accommodate.

I just found a really old bsp, it's so mysterious. It's like a culmination of really weird dreams placed into a map. I may turn it into something. I may also re make "gone".

Sounds good Rimrook! I don't think this idea will fizzle out since we have so much time to plan ahead. But if it does, at least hopefully a few people will be able to make it when we do decide a date.

I will keep everyone updated with my house build. I will probably pm anyone the bsp. of my house design that's interested as I start cranking it out in hammer. I just installed updates so I can now run autodesk inventor to test what size members to use in my barndominium. I'm a huge fan of scissor A-frames. I really like open sheet metal but need to insulate it so it will have to be hidden on the inside. I'm going to design my build via rhino, hammer and inventor.

@Jessie, I hope some of the lurkers chime in to this!

Zeeba, I'm tempted to just take a week vacation and fly down to help you build this thing.

As someone who's met a few TWHLers, using crazy online names in real-life is awkward as fuck.

Haha yea, we can go by whatever we like. Of course you can just call me Myles, and when we meet i'll introduce myself to everyone personally. It would make sense to introduce yourself saying "blank" known as "blank". Rimrook and I have worked on a few things together and we call each other by Ben and Myles.

Jessie, I really like that name, and don't worry you are entitled to be called whatever you like.

So I was talking with my father and he doesn't want me building on his land, for many reasons such as that it is flood land. I feel like if I wait for my mom's land to be divided it will take forever. So there's a piece of land in the town of Columbus that I can get it's on the market for a semi affordable price. The only problem is that it's not in the best area, isn't on the creek and is only .18 acres. Well I could still barn the entire lot into a barndominium. I just have to check with the deed restrictions in the area. I will call the realtor tomorrow and let you guys know what I find out.

It would probably end up being faster and cheaper since it already has public water "don't have to dig a well and septic", and electricity.

Now this is my cup of tea!!! Finds after browsing pinterest countless hours.Mine will have more tools in it though and have insulated roof.

Got ninja'd lol. I think this is the lot shape, have to verify. the back narrow chunk would probably be a back yard with a tall fence.

It's just down the street from my parent's lands so we could just pile into the truck lol.

Either I'm doing the acres to square metres conversion wrong, or that lot is bigger than 4 acres. Or you got just enough space to build a toolshed and a one-car garage.

My dad gave me the back corner to build my barndominium or whatever I decide to build. If he sells the land he will leave me with the shown easements to access the creek and road.

Smells like we will be using Dial-Up for our browsing needs.

While, yes, the shape is uncommon (I've got a similarly oddly shaped plot near me, only with one arm), it's not not unheard of.

Using this Google Maps area tool, puts the total property at about 3.9 acres. Zeeba's corner is about 0.17 acres, and, though not quite square, around 87' by 87'. Looks like a good size to me.

It's just the back square corner with easements to the road and creek.

Here's a wip of my 20x30' barndominium. I'll post the map when it's semi finished.I used 20 units= 12 inches. It sort of works for width but height is exaggerated...

No insulation on first floor as it's flood land. And I've chosen this beautiful black corrugated steel.

I divided the back top for living quarters and insulated in a room and bath room. The bed room lofts over the bathroom for extra space. Wait till you see it, it's pretty tight.

in HL1, 12 units = 12 inches. The player is 72 units tall, equal to 6 feet.

If you scale everything by 0.6 it would come out to real world proportions.

Interesting. I should have gone with 24 units=12 inches wide and 12 units=12 inches tall for easiness of use.

Scaling everything at the end would probably work for a final compile but lots of changes will probably be made throughout the build.
