Before anyone says that I need to verify integrity of game cache and/or reinstall Cs:go Sdk, please bear in mind that I've done all of those several times. Whenever I launch Cs:Go SDK, it pops up the greenish menu, Face editor and the other one works perfectly fine but hammer just crashes instantly, the hammer window doesn't pop-up or anything only a single error message stating that: Hammer has stopped working. It gives me a brief explanation:

Hammer has worked for me in the past, probably an update caused the crash, I don't really know. I'd be glad to provide more information. Well anyways thanks for reading.

You said you've reinstalled CS:GO but have you reinstalled the SDK?

@Tetsu0 Yes, I have (both Cs:Go and Cs:Go SDK)

what if you rename "filesystem_stdio.dll" to something like "filesystem_stdio.BAK" and then check game cache integrity?
It might re-download an updated dll.

@Tetsu0 I tried it and it did not help at all. But it's probably the miscrosoft directX that messes everything up.

no need for the @ tag ninja ;) I'm the only one in the thread.
I think your best bet would be to check out the steam forums or put in a steam support ticket

Hey Gorange. Cianez from Steam here.

Before submitting a support ticket, try to reinstall the latest version of Microsoft .NET Framework (should be 4.0), DirectX 9.0c, DirectX Redist (June 2010), and also check your operating system's updates and do all the updates.

If all this don't work, then go ahead and submit a support ticket.

Hammer doesn't run on .NET, Alberto :)

Anyway, I thought you were supposed to run Hammer.bat from the game's bin folder, instead of using the SDK launcher. Is that different with CSGO?

Do other Hammer versions work for you? For example, TF2 or HL2?

PB I'm pretty sure that any game with it's own SDK can safely launch the authoring tools.
It's the integrated SDK that broke during the Steampipe update.

So CS:S = bin folder
CS:GO = sdk
again, I'm pretty sure

Oh I didn't know that PB, I was just suggesting some things to be sure.
Though, it's a really strange problem.

Anyway, the CS:GO SDK is another SDK (is "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive SDK" in the Steam's Tools), it works if launched from the SDK window instead of launching it from the bin folder like Source SDK. But I don't really know what could be the problem.

PB's method is definitely worth trying.
Go into your steamapps|common|CS:GO|bin folder and see if there's a hammer.bat file floating around.
Launch that if it exists.

I've never had a problem launching the csgo SDK, and no u don't need to run it from the bin folder.

Try deleting all but your steamapps folder and reinstall steam. (With your steamapps backed up u could also try a brand-new install) If that doesn't work, buy a new computer maybe :P
