Okay, I switched over to Steam today from my WON installations of OpFor, CS, HL, Ricochet and TFC. I converted everything into the steam caches, and they all went to around 90% on update status. After dinner they went from the 95/90 percents they were at earlier to 0%. Is this just switching to show new update status, or did it erase my data from the earlier version and do I have to re-dl the entire game even though I have an earlier version? Also, when it says "Needs Update" is it downloading the update, or what? If not, what do I have to click to update the games.

Me neither, but my friend from Germany convinced me to get it, and since I cant play over a LAN when he goes home, I hafta play over the net, and you cant have 1.6/5 together successfully. And you get weather and shields in 1.6

It seems you have to try and play the game to finish updating it. If you want to play CS, make sure you try and launch it half a day beforehand. The joy of Steam.

Half a day? I think you mean half a week on a modem. Not to mention the HL download it has to redo even though I already own version 1.1.0.0....in WON format, doh....The joy of Steam, indeed. The whole system is a mess.

Hmm, I must've b0rked steam when my internet disconnected. I restarted meh comp and now it works. Still hafta wait overnight to play it though....me wants broadband

Hey, I use Steam. If you have a WON installation, it doesn't muck it up. It is perfectly usable. And if you already have things like OP4, HL and other mods, installing is quick. It doesn't muck up all the time with multiplayer like WON did for me. The only problem is mapping. Always use WON HL to test maps!!!!
