I can't figure out why I keep getting the bad surface extent error in my map "topside_short" (problem section of map vault). There isn't all that much sky, the textures are all fine (scale not too big), map isn't too big.

BTW, is it easily possible to get a screenshot of a map that won't run?

Press alt+p in Hammer and Fix all of the 'texture axis perpendicular to face' errors.

Bah, Then I am not sure what you can do.

No, but you can get a screenshot from inside hammer. Click on the 3d view and make it 3d texture. Click on one of the brushes in 3d view and press Shift+X. It will make the 3d view as big as it possibly can. Press Print Screen (on your keyboard, next to F12 if you can't find it) and paste it into a Image Editing program (paint, photoshop, etc.) and then crop it so all you can see is the 3d Texture Part. It should come out looking like in game, without lighting and stuff though.

In the future, don't scale textures above 10 or below .10. That's the cause of these errors for me.

Bad surface extent is when something is stecthed/shrunken too much. Has nothing to do with size of your map and it isnt picked up by checking for errors. Your going to have to look over the whole map.
Its usually 1 unit thick walls that you acciedntally shrink and stuff so start wih the small sides.
