Is it the beta version of hammer?
Have you changed your video card/any settings?
Installed any other programs that would use 3D rendering?

Running too many apps at the same time?
Try reinstalling Hammer.

Try reinstalling 3.4 and seeing if it works.

If so, then you can re-install the beta if you'd like and see if it works then.

Floater, reinstalling has never worked for me when stuff was freezing up. It rarely ever does. What you got is a virus Crazy, probably the Trojan Horse virus. I had it about a month ago, b4 my hard drive crashed. When I had the Trojan Horse virus, the same thing was happening to me. Half of the things on my comp stopped working.

My solution?

I used a built-in recovery program to fix everything. And it worked! Do you have something like that?

CrAzY: What OS are you using? If it's XP or 2000, press Ctrl+Alt+Del, go to the Processes tab, and try to figure out a rough average of the CPU Usage (at the bottom). Also, (still just 2000/XP) do this, which will copy a list of processes running to a text file so we can check for viruses:

1. Start -> Run -> cmd.exe
2. Type "tasklist /svc >> c:processes.txt"
3. Open c:processes.txt and paste it in a post.

Of course, if you're using '98 or non-Windows then that's all completely useless.

You could also reinstall/update DirectX if it's only 3D stuff that's affected, and update your graphics card drivers.

SilentGunz: trojans are a family of virus, there are hundreds, probably thousands of them, not just the one.

You could always try system-restoring, if Hammer worked in the past.

Seventh: I know there are hundreds. it's just that I used to have Norton Antivirus and it told me my comp was infected by the "Trojan Horse" virus. I looked it up in a list and there was only one Trojan HORSE, but many other Trojans.
