i am learning new things as i go mapping and the one thing thats caused me probs is the damn scripting thing! i was just testing to see if it would work and i made it so a scientist is hanging off ledge and falls into a black hole and that seemed to work fine. i then tried the thing where the scientist talks so i made a trigger_once, monster sci, and scripted_sequence. the player walks through the trigger and the scientist looks at him and should say sumthing but he just stands there!!

i choose the sound odorfromyou cause it made me laugh i filled in the boxes etc but no luck!!! :| :nuts: :lol:

Trigger an ambient_generic with the sound at the same time as the script?

or, look in the GCF file for the game, and find the Sentences.txt, and find the line that plays your sound your looking for. Screw the ambient generic crap.... With mine, you can actually see his lips moving!! Want me to find the line for you? aww hell I will....

ok, for the scripted_sentence, put !SC_SMELL1 in the sentence name box, and that will play what you wanted. ok!! if that dont work, well i dunno. BUT IT SHOULD....

The way I got my sounds to work in that sort of situation was with ambient_generic...if the sci/barney is falling, noone's going to notice his mouth.

yeah, I use ambient_generics when you dont see the mouth..... but I use the sentences for talking people..

Ambient generics work like miracles, well, that is if it is hard to see the sicentiast and stuff like tht, that way it actually looks like they are talking.

ok i get what u lot mean and wat i did was i looked at pak0 right had loads of sounds which made me happy anywhoo the names of the sounds are sumthing like donuteater.wav but u cant type that in the scripted box so u must use the sentences am i right well anyway i am gonna test it now and see if it worked :

wow thnx grim ur explanation worked fine i got him to say that and got my friends laughing wen i made a sort of story of 2 scientists talking and cussing each other lol well thnx :D oh and if any1 reads this listen to grims explanation cause it works!!! :P
