A lot of the time when I download other people's maps I get the error message 'could not find fonts.wad' or something. Where can a get this? Does anyone have a copy I could have?

hmmm.. you should have it in your valve directory,
i got it there,

these are the wads that came with hl, and that you should have:

Decals.wad
fonts.wad
gfx.wad
halflife.wad
liquids.wad
spraypaint.wad
xeno.wad

and people shouldnt include the fonts.wad in their map when they're compiling, it doesn't do anything

It happened to me too for some reason. If you want a copy, email me at 'anthony@m0pX.net' with a topic like 'Fonts.wad' and I'll send it.

That's weird. I have all of them but fonts.wad. Huh. Maybe I have an old version of HL. I can't update, either, for some gay reason. I think I connection is too slow. Ticks me off. Anyway, can you give a copy of fonts.wad to me via e-mail? I'd really appreciate it as I can't view half the maps I download from TWHL. Thanks. (By the way, I just downloaded one of your maps. Haven't opened it yet. Can't wait!)
