when i compile a program i get an error that reads as follows:

"Could not find filesystem dll to load."

im not totally sure what this could be of but i can take screenshots of my compiler configuration if need be.

This is caused by trying to launch the game with Hammer in post-compile. Launch the map manually by starting HL/CS/whatever, opening the console, and typing map mapname where mapname is the er, name of your map.

alright, the compiler ithink finished without any problems. i go into half-life, i open the console and i type

'map begninner'

and it says it cannot find it
so i go to half-life/valve/maps and i dont find and .bsp files there.

Check there on how to write a batch file that may help you solve this problem. Make sure after substing your drives to set the output dir to G:half-lifevalvemaps.

i have a batch file right now that does this :

subst G: C:ValveSteamSteamAppsmatty_mcgee@hotmail.com
subst H: C:ValveHammer

i dont know if that does anything.

You need to change those pathnames to where you installed steam. In my case, it's C:ValveSteam, but in many others it's C:Program FilesValveSteam.

You can delete the hammer one, or change it to your hammer directory.

i dont think it worked
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-23 21:25:03 UTC Post #53364
If it flashed a DOS prompt, or if you can go Start - Run and type G: and have it open a folder, then it worked.

Re-setup hammer using G:half-life as your HL directory, G:half-lifevalve as the game dir, etc. and try recompiling.

Was your G: drive already used before this, with a digital camera, CD drive, etc?

Use another letter like S:. S for Steam, see? ;)

@Habboi: Substing things doesn't make a new drive - it simply creates a drive which acts as a shortcut to a folder, or program.

holy crap, go to the folder where your.rmf/.map file is (beginner.map/begginer.rmf i imagine) and manually move the frickin' file to whatever maps folder you'll be using, for steam it's:"
Whatever drive!!:program filessteamsteam appsyour@email.comcounter strikecstrikezmaps
my god it's that simple, if you're having trouble finding a file on your pc then i doubt you should be attempting to write DOS programs.

that's just my opinion anyway.

i can find files on my computer very easily i know a lot about PCs just nothing about hammer.

right now all i know is that i dont have any .bsp files that can run in the game and that is all i want.

btw: peace and love isnt a very peacful person haha.

i think deistny just doesnt want me to use hammer.
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-24 13:55:43 UTC Post #53619

dont worry boys, i found the problem and have fixed it.

ok so i have a @ in my regular steam apps. so i made a dummy steam app cpied all the stuff from the other into it and re-set up my compiler config and walla! it works, i put the map in digital paintball and it works. i should probably put it in half-life, ill go do that.
