fiddle around in options? reinstall? get 3.5 if you dont have it? get 3.4 if you have 3.5?

You can turn down the amount of Undo levels in the Options. This problem sounds more like a computer problem to me. Hit Ctrl-Alt-Dlt and see what's sucking up RAM as this is probably the likely suspect. For the wads, load them in, hit Apply, then ok, exit Hammer and open it again. If this doesn't work, check for errors on you Hard Disk(s), check for viruses, increase the virtual memory and check for other crap. If all fails, format. :P

Sounds like a general computer problem to me too.

Usual boring time-consuming PC maintenance, defragging, scandisk/equiv, virus-scan, Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D, check your tasklist for CPU usage.

As for the select tool, tick "Allow infinite selection without enter" somewhere in Options.

Try logging on as somebody with administrator priveliges and configuring Hammer there if you're on an NTx system.

I'm, teling you guys, I see you talking about Hammer problem all the time. SWITCH TO WORLDCRAFT! What makes hammer so much better anyway? All I've seen is the 4 screen thingy.

LOLOL n00b!
WORLDCRAFT = HAMMER, or namely, worldcraft 3.3 and up is hammer!
YOu're using an OUTDATED version. Dont tell me your still using quaketools also?

I know Worldcraft is Hammer, but worldcraft is more stable!

All I've seen is the 4 screen thingy.
What the hell? Are you saying you use an editor with ONE VIEWPORT!?

If your PC can't run Hammer then you might as well use it as a weapon. Drop it on peoples' heads. More interesting than a doorstop or paperweight.

Worldcraft was the old incarnation of Hammer. It was the version that was included in the retail version of Half-Life.

@Coolfat - Take Seventh's advice, especially if you can't run Hammer!

The new hammer is kinda the same as the present.
I havent tried it much, but its basically the same, except events are triggered in a different way.

it's the same layout, just more option and tools, more entities etc, and yeah, the ablity to trigger multiple things and have near enough everything interact with everything else all needs to be set up in hammer, which looks confusing tbh, there are entites that decide how light and sound are spread out, and the path corners for all the monsters is insanely expanded i do believe.
and the grid size is... ridiculous, seriously, you can't see the edges when you zoom out all the way, it's phenomenal.
