Ok. My very first map, not even complete map. IM just messing around, trying to learn Vavle Hammer Editor. (Yes, i know there are tutorials and i used a few in starting out) Just two rooms, one on top of each other, bottom level is like an aim map, top is like a scout map. I want to make it so when you go up to the top floor, you lose the ak/m4 you currently have, so you have to pick up a scout. I've tried doing the player strip thing with the trigger but its not working for me. Any ideas?? oh, and my ladder looks wierd. Im using two "ladders". one is visible and is "func_wall" and the second one is stacked on top as "func_ladder". Is there any way to make it just one as "func_ladder" but still visible?? My ladder just looks wierd right now

theres no way to make it just one, but it really shouldnt look wierd.
as for the player_weaponstrip, make sure the trigger_multiple has no name, and make it target your player_weaponstrip (keep it simple - no capital letters, spaces or weird symbols in your entity names)
i.e trigger multiple:
name:
target:strip
player_weaponstrip:
name:strip

It might look weird in-editor, it looks fine in-game.

Well, it's really thick in editor, but when you play it, you only view the one you make as func_wall right? so it looks as if you are walking on air, and the ladder is like 5 ft away from you, and its really thick and for some reason, i cant get it thinner. (the ladder that is) Boy, do i sound stupid! But the game works just fine. I played it using the steam 1.6 bots and they can run around in it perfectly so it should be a no brainer for real humans.

Scale your grid down so you can make the laddder thinner with [, scale it up again with ]. The only one seen is func_wall, yeah. Make sure the func_ladder is flush against the func_wall ladder brush, that would be my only suggestion to making sure it looks perfect.

I make my ladders 4 deep by 32 wide... that seems to look pretty good. The ladder is func_wall and set rendermode to solid and render fx to 255. That will make the blue "clear" instead of black. Make the func_ladder 4 deep as well. Make sure to texture it with the AAATrigger texture.

Also, make sure to use the texturing tool to adjust the ladder texture so that the top rung ends where it looks right. Sometimes that makes it look goofy if you don't do that.

instead of black. make sure your running half life (or counter strike or whatever) in OPENGL mode.

basically, everything i type is disappeatring, so here's ;ink to atut i wrote on stripping etc,#
i'd use a trigger_multiple, targetting a multi_manager, which fires a player_weaponstrip and a game_playerequip.

teh strip fired at 0.1 seconds, teh equip at 0.2, you need to give the player a knife with teh equip, and that's it. Note taht teh strip entity removes everything teh player has, so take that into account.

I think it would have been more appropriate to show teh ladder in Hammer, don't you think?

You showed two pics of a viking log cabin, with no ladder in sight... =/

no offense dude, but you didn't make it very clear what you were doing.
