I followed the custom mod tutorial on strings and now it won't work, it's a .lst file.. in the gfx/shell folder of my mod. It has about 9 lines edited, and nothing is changing, only other thing in my shell folder is my splash screen

frowns is that the right filename? I thought it was .rc? I might be completely wrong though.

Let's do this stepwise:

1. Make sure the file is called strings.lst
No other name will work.

2. Make sure the path is correct

3. Make sure you've written the number before the string

4. Make sure all your strings are enclosed with " "

If it's still not working, send the file to me and I'll have a look at it.

Bad news.

Steam has removed the in-game strings and therefor the tutorial has become obsolete, at least that part. Does the console background and startup-screen still work?

Sorry, strings.lst isn't used anymore. The tutorial was written for the old HL.

The console background's done completely differently too, it's in about eight pieces for no apparent reason. Good luck with the console background, but I can't see how as the console's completely different too.

Well when on earth did you test it? The Steam console's been in the form of a window since early public beta.
