Ok, I read the tutorial (15 times) and I couldn't get the dev_overview 1 to work. It just stayed in the normal view of the map. So I came to the forums and read the whole GRRR...overviews thread. No help there. Although it did seem to indicate in that thread that I needed to be running my map in half-life with the latest patch before steam. So I reinstalled half-life to the old sierra file and updated with the last patch. Still no luck.

Everytime I have tried this I have been in open-GL 1024x768 (like instructed in the tut) I have tried this from steam running cs 1.6 and cz and from the old sierra running cs 1.5 and half-life with the 1.1.1.0 patch (the last before steam) and I am not able to get that overview view of the map. I have tried both dev_overview 1 and dev_overview 2 neither work. I have launched the map both from in game and from the start>run cmd line. Help!! I really want an overview for my map and can find no other instructions anywhere on the web. This is the only tut I have found. Any ideas anyone??

Have you got -dev in your command line? It won't work otherwise.

Yes, right click your shortcut to HL/CS/DoD/Whatever, and in it's run line, where it has summat like: C:steamsteam appsetcetc you need to add -dev, leave a space after teh end of the command that is already there.

Then you run your map, type dev_overview 1 (or 2) and you have a party.

sry I took so long getting back here. I've been out of town alot... anyway. Strange thing. I went back and tried it again two more times it didn't work. I came back in town for a weekend and tried it again just because I really wanted it and BANG, it worked. LOL whatever was going on ... I don't know. But thanks for the replies. By the way I did have -dev on and always did. I'll be damned if I know what was up. :
