Your opinions about that DieHard???. By the way, do you play any instrument?.

and yes i play music instrument... well i dont know how to say in english... i think it as accordion... I've played it for some 10 years.
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-16 13:36:12 UTC Post #7977
Heeheee. Funny to see someone liking this music and playing an accordion. I mean, it?s not meant to be offensive but you know, you expect electric guitars or bass or drums :). Do you play it because of musical heritage?. Do I have to suppose you are From North Europe?.
By the way, I always had a question about your instrument: what are those little black dots-keys in one side of your instrument?. I know it has a keyboard in its right (??) side but don?t know about the other one.
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-16 18:41:35 UTC Post #8004
Well some day i will learn to play guitar, but for now its accordion (and a little keyboards)... And I play it becouse i like it.
I am from Serbia (former Yugoslavia), and Accordion is a national instrument...
Well that "black dots-keys" are,... I dont know how to say it in Eng..
they are "support" to the melody played with a right hand... With them I create rythm and simmilar stuff...
You know when pianist plays the piano... The right hand plays the melody, and left plays rythm. Simmilar thing is with accordion...
I hope this helps.
:)
And one addition to my music list: SONATA ARCTICA
I tell you guys (and girls), that band is AWESOME. My personal best album is SILENCE. Great songs, music, lead singer...
Finland rules... I've noticed that many good bands come from Finland. Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, The 69 Eyes , Him and the last but not worst CHILDREN OF BODDOM!!!
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-16 18:47:29 UTC Post #8007
I play guitar, drums and bass!!! Im an expert on all things metallica as well! I have even met them, 3 times!!!
m0p m0pIllogical.

yeah, you saw them from 1000m distance... :)
and 3 times...

sorry, i had to say that.
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-17 04:21:24 UTC Post #8037
Cool DieHard, Cool... I think now I can tell people more about the accordion. The band I like most from these 3 bands you mentioned is Children Of Bodom. A couple of years ago I used to tune down my guitar just to transcribe some of their music though it was strange, seemed lead guitars were tuned normally while rithm not.
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-17 08:27:30 UTC Post #8052
i liked their albums... aldought i dont have them anymore... (virus, format.... DOUGH!) load the SIXPOUNDER!!!!

They have a unique style that i'v never heard before... Strong, hard & screaming voices... Heavenly..
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-17 10:39:13 UTC Post #8065
Somehow they were like an enhanced version of In Flames meets Yngwie Malmsteen meets Stratovarius. Sounds funny but I see it this way. I liked them very much but I grew a little tired of it and started with other things. They are a very challenging band for anyone that plays and instrument, specially guitars. Their solos are not from outher space once you get to play them but are tricky at first glance.
If you like this style you could have a look at bands like SoilWork, In Flames and so on. Melodic Death/Black metal... Isn?t it a contradiction?.
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-17 17:28:15 UTC Post #8129
i've noticed ovet time that their songs (children's) are beeing same. you know same songs on diferent albums. but hey, they are great.

anyway, can you tell me more about new Dimmu?
I've heard Progenies Of the Great Apocalypse and notning more. is entire album like that?
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-17 20:23:38 UTC Post #8150
Well DieHard... You?re really gonna dig the new Dimmu?s Album. I played it to the drummer of my band and really got him out of his mind ;). Progenies of the Great Apocalypse is a very orchestrated theme and you?ve got these things in the album but there are also neck-breacking riffs and clean vocal stuff that will leave you completely satisfied. The entire album is not the same as this song (it would be too lineal) but believe me, it?s damn good, just like an enhanced incarnation of their previous album.
And yes, these things tend to happen (I?m referring to the Children?s thing). Have you ever heard Yngwie Malmsteen, his songs are just the same over and over in all him albums (well, not in the first ones). Some call it style and some call it lack of ideas. I see the Children?s thing as the result of exploiting too much a baroque guitar trend that has been enough exploited during almost 20 years. Anyway, it?s cool :).
And not, I haven?t heard about Eternal Lies Anonymous ;). By the way, seems we?re all about death-black stuff XD!.
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-18 03:48:04 UTC Post #8179
thanks for info about dimmy
it seems you really know your's music :)

...just remembered. You have to (if you're not alreay) listen to one exelent album: LUCA TURILLI - THE PROPHET OF THE LAST ECLIPSE. Exelent stuff, and unique by mine standards. By the way Luca Turilli is from Italian metal band RAPSODY. They are great also. :)
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-18 09:45:38 UTC Post #8214
Hehe, I know, I know. I?m my honest opinion, best Rhapsody?s work to date is their excellent debut album "Legendary Tales". It does not only feature the most incredible guitar work of Luca Turilli (I don?t know why he stopped doing this solo stuff... Sounded good) but also an outstanding songwriting and a perfect combination of metal and orchestral music. The production is not all the good it could be (drums sound like drum machine :() but it fits the purpose... One think I don?t like about Rhapsody (personally) is that they?ve gone too far in the combination of metal and classical and now their stuff is baroque, dense, full of little details here and there. I liked this kind of arrangements before but now I dig in clearer sounds more, a sound when you can actually hear and distinguish perfecly among all instruments... First Rhapsody album didn?t feature so much orchestral work along the songs and they came clearer with rock structures and classical interludes... But they are good. In the same mood I like the also italian band Labyrinth and, of course, with a common point in the use of orchestral and classical stuff, progressive-metal band Symphony X.
Seems you have good taste DieHard ;).
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-18 12:22:25 UTC Post #8220
Labyrinth & Symphony X are ok. But i didn listened them much...

anyting that you recomend that i didnt listen sofar?
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-18 22:44:09 UTC Post #8318
Hmmm... Honestly don?t know... Symphony X.... Dream Theater???. They are quite good, so they are Heaven?s Gate and John Norum?s album "Face the truth". Little jewels, I say.

I forgot one thing. German progresive band BLIND GUARDIAN... I tell you their last labum (A Night at the Opera) was a pure masterwork. Uber guitars, and great lyrics.
One reviewer (?I think thats the word?) from one Serbian metal magazine described their music like "Epic-Sinfonic-Progresive-Bling Guardian metal  ", and he is not mistaking...
He said that there is a new genre in metal music: Blind Guardian Metal. I agree.
I think that their first album was published 1988... A long time ago...
I can not even imagine their next album...

About my taste... Well thats me. I lisiten metal and play FRP.( Not the computer one, the "real" one.)

FRP???... I?m lost, what?s that... And, well, may be about taste, I mean, those bands you are mentioning are damn good... About Blind Guardian... Yes, I discovered them with Batallions of Fear and Follow the Blind, their two first albums back in the 80s :). Those albums sound more like power-speed metal and so sounded until they released... errr... "The Forgotten Tales"?... Nono!, "Tales from the twilight world" where they started with all those choruses and so on... For me, their best album is "Imaginations from the other side" where they found a perfect harmony between power and majesty, it?s a must to hear ;). Then came an album devoted to Tolkien?s Silmarillion who was called... Err.. I?m going to look at it... That?s it, "Nightfall in middle earth", more likely to be called "Nightfall" :P. And then A Night at the Opera (the same as a Queen album, first one, I think, where Bohemian Rhapsody is)... Anyway, they are so good.
Blind Guardian are really an unique case, I never heard something that sounded like them :).

FRP = Fantasy Role Play its not easy (with my english :| ) to define it perfectley so I'll will copy/paste something here:

(RPG). A roleplaying game is one in
which a referee (the Game Master
or a Dungeon Master)
guides several players through an
?adventure? in which they play the
parts of fictional characters.
Game Master (GM, DM): The referee,
who chooses the adventure, talks
the players through it, and judges
the results.

Get it?
Few of my friend and I gather around, we pick GM (and thats me, they are to lazy for that). Then we pick rules for our little capaign. There are many rules for different setting of campaign. If we are gonna play some fantasy-dragon-killin' setting then we use DnD (Dungeon and Dragons, you've have to hard that! . And there are many other, like cyberpunk, superheroes, horror.... )
Then they create their "character" that they will guide in GM's campaign. And basicly thats it. GM tells the story, and players tries to solve all the riddles and triubles that GM is throwing to them. (but, players often do something totaly unexpected, and then story that GM is prepared go on a totaly diferent way... witch is good). And that is a "real" FRP.

If you still dont understand try to play eny BioWare game. Baldur Gate, Nevervinter Nights (and fallout 1,2 and any other rpg game)... Its the same thing, Dnd rules, you controling characters, but in this case computer is a GM.

Hope this help...

Oh!!!!. RPG!!!!!!!!. I also played it but has been a year since I don?t have players :(... I was the DM for Vampire: The Masquerade, Mutantes en la Sombra (Spanish one, excellent), RuneQuest, AD&D (Advance Dungeons and Dragons, is this the one you use??) and some others like Pendragon or Mechwarrior... I also was player at some of these but ?t?s so lazy to sit and enjoy, I like to write campaigns and so on :D.
We stopped playing ?cos one of the players was the girlfriend of other and they split and stuff but I?d love to play again since it?s a real nice entertainment!!!!.
I remember Bloodwich from Amstrad CPC, was a quite good dungeon RPG game hehe. By the way, have you heard about IRC and mail RPGs???. Seems people is playing it all over the net!. I imagine they use some kind of scripts for the dice rolls, otherwise it would be quite disastrous (i.e "Oh, a 20, I did another critical hit to your dragon and rolled 9999 damage points in my damage roll. Sorry about that!!!").
... Anyway, now that I remember... I must get a group of players right now!!!!. We used to play some nice music while RPGing, I mean, I had many Cd?s there so I used always music fitting the situation (this is great for Vampire!!!). Given that you are DM you should try it if you still don?t... The Original Sound Score for the picture Conan the Barbarian is an infinite source of good music for D&D :).
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-19 22:00:46 UTC Post #8477
yeah, conan music is the best. but lateley we are listening to nightwish and lot of Loreena McKennitt celtic songs.

i am playing mostly adnd 3rd ed, some fallout and cuberpunk.
i've beed GM most of the time. i am playin curently one "online" rpg with my firend from another city. we go to forum and post messages there. it's hard to roll dice on online games... we play much more "storytelling" on the net... i culd give you a link, but its all in serbian so you woudnt undestand...

any funny stories from your sesionss? i have tons of that but we are talking about music here. at least we suposed to do. but i have to tell you one:

Party is entering a stable (?not sure for word.... building where horses are ;) )
All are jumping fast to horses, guards will be here in a minute...
Wizzard (talking to me) : Is there a boat somewhere?

First, there was a 5 min. of silence and then a half hour laugh... :P
:P :P :) :) :P :P :D :D
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-19 22:12:24 UTC Post #8481
XD!!!. I have load of funny things. I try to do my histories as dramatical as possible to extract the best from the player but htey always come up with things to ruin it (let?s see... Priests leaving women in pregnancy, cleptomaniacal barbarians, spies getting drunk all the time instead of making their work and, of course, behaving cocky to bad guys in a foreign country). We could even open a new thread about this, there are LOADS of things to tell :D:D:D.
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-19 22:18:31 UTC Post #8484
LOADS * 2

warrior enters valhalla.
GM: you see Odin sittin' on the throne.

XDDDDXDDDDXDDDDD!!!!: DAMN GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.... But, you give AC status to your players???. Let me think if I can come up with something good... I remember an spy waking up naked on a beach with his gun under his body after a party night and suggesting sticking his gun up his ass so it?s not seen :D.

Me: i do detect evil.

GM: rest of you what are you doing?

Vangelis, Mike Oldfield, Ennio Morricone they are my favourates
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-29 23:20:29 UTC Post #9739
I saw Mike Oldfield live when he was touring with the 3Lunas album... Or was it Tubular Bells 3?. Anyway, this guy rules, I?ve got all of his albums, most of them in vinil and... They are sooooo good. There are some weak ones and there are diverse opinions about them, for example, one of my personal favourites remains Earth Moving while others say it sucks. What?s your opinion about this album Loque?.
And for Vangelis... Well, I?m afraid I only have the Opera Sauvage vinil and the Soundtrack for Blade Runner... But it?s ok...
And Armadillo, RadioHead is damn good and... Damn Strange too!!!. I?ve got their last albums and they are completely annoying!. Liked O.k Computer very much!. Unfortunately I don?t like RATM (I almost hate them because of an incongruent message and... something in their music). Audioslave was better in my opinion, Chris Cornell is far superior to Zack de la Rocha in vocals (once again, in my opinion, this guy can?t sing... Sorry if I hurt someone, feel free to hurt me, that?s just what I personally think :)) and this did wonders for the sound of the band. Rem is funny, but Shiny Happy People is a repulsive song and has a truly repulsive video shot!!!!!. And for the other bands... I don?t know them, well, I know about Blur, but don?t like them. What are they about?.
