Well I know this may sound stupid, but I just started mapping today and I see in the 2nd tutorial that he made a custom brush. I was just wondering where in hammer do create a custom brush size?

If you could help me it would be much appriciated :D

2nd tutorial? That's not that clear I'm afraid. Please link to the tutorial.

Without that I assume a custom brush is a brush to a size and shape you require? In which case try vertex manipulation, but best to read a tutorial on that so you understand the limitations...

The bottom of the Hammer windows shows the size of a selected brush.

in the tutorial, he said he made his brush size 200w 64l and 96h I was wondering how do you change the size. because mine ring now goes by 128 blocks.

Sigh

Change the grid size.
It's the little "+" button in the toolbar.

We all started out knowing nothing. You've a long journey ahead. Stick with it though, there's nothing like playing around in a map you created youself. Be sure to research your own questions as much as you can before asking them here. Don't be afraid to experiment and try out your ideas in a test map, you can't hurt anything, it's only mapping. ;)

You can also turn off 'snap to grid' SHIFT+W is the shortcut, don't know where it is on the menu.

You can also build cylinders with 32 sides, but that'll give about as much fun a switching off 'snap to grid'.
Never do that, as points that are not on the grid will be put onto it by the compiler, which will result in very strange objects.
Find your optimal grid size to work on - 4 is alright - and stick to that grid. For small detail go down to a gridsize of 1, but never have any vertices not on the smallest grid.

most people actually map in 16. i prefer not to have a default size to map in (for some reason i used to stick with 64), and find it alot easier to just jump around grid sizes depending on what i need.

but yeah, taking snap to grid off just sucks, and makes you more prone to creating leaks.
