I want to create a night time, rainy, gloomy effect but i need to give the effect of lightning

Could you direct me to a guide or explain how please!

Bright light flashing + sound should do the trick. You could add a fairly simple sprite.

Yeah. Choreographed with a multi_manager or two.

Remember that you hear the thunder a couple of seconds after the lightning when it's any distance away.

multi_manager? This is HL2 :/

I've done some new effects in Raincheck with some extremely bright, largely scaled sprites and sound triggered with a logic_timer at random intervals. OnTimer the sprite is triggered and then the sound goes off with a delay of 1 or something.

Missing the texture? Rain only works on CSS and not HL2!

rain works in hl2 :/ , you just have to create the appropriate texture for your env_rain or func_rain or whatever the hell the entity is called
