im guessing the otehr parts of the map besides the bsp, so where does the vmx and lin and stuff go?

Most of the other files are irrelevent and superfluous. The VMX is (I think) a backup of the VMF file, which is the Hammer map format. You need not worry about all the other stuff.

The .max is a backup of the .map. The .vmx is highly likely to be a backup of the .rmf. The .pnt file is for leak tracing. The rest are temporary files only ? all you need to distribute in a non-custom-extras map is the .bsp.

Seventh, check your forums again... there's no .rmf files in HL2 mapping...You mean .vmf, I believe.
