SHIT, SHIT, SHIT.
I'm so close to completing this CS:S map, but friggin' pointless problems keep occuring! First was the Bumpmaps not appearing, finally i fixed that. Now when i try to open map i get this error:

Out of memory loading solid.

So i click Ok, and this appears:

File C:SteamSteamApps....strider_oasis.vmf, line 2041: error 7

Click Ok again and Steam shutsdown. I noticed before i saved and exited the map (before this problem occured) some textures weren't appearing, that's when i though re-opening the map would refresh it or something, then this shite appeared. Any suggestions o-wise ones? This maps giving me the absolute shits. :nervous: :aggrieved:

first try the .vmx file if you have one
rename to vmf etc etc.

Are VMF files comprehensible in text editors? Try opening it in Notepad or whatever and looking at like 2041 (Ctrl+G, 2041 in Notepad).

Sounds like a good idea, will try!

EDIT: Alright cool, when i went to line 2041 it showed an incorrect texture refference, i fixed it and tried to run the map again, it says theres a problem on a different line 2021 or something. I'm guessing the's are the locations where i had seen all the texture glitches. I'll try correcting them all and it should hopefully run! :)

How on earth can people stand mapping through text-editors!? It would be insanely difficult.

if you have everything on paper it won't be so difficult

I mapped a box with a text editor once.

Took me about an hour to get it right.

I don't think anyone does, but it's been proven as useful for debugging.

Thread over!
