http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drawing_and_quartering

To all people to lazy to read an article.

In Britain, they would
1. Dragged on a hurdle (a wooden frame) to the place of execution.
2. Hanged[1] by the neck, but removed before death (hanged).
3. Disembowelled, and the genitalia and entrails burned before the victim's eyes; the heart was the last to be removed and was then shown to the victim before the entrails were burned (drawn)
4. Beheaded and the body divided into four parts (quartered).

And France even weirder yet....
1. The regicide [personal note- person who killed a king] would be first tortured with red-hot pincers
2. Then the hand with which the crime was committed would be burnt with sulphur and molten lead and wax and boiling oil poured into the wounds.
3. The quartering would be accomplished by the attachment of the victim's limbs to horses, who would then tear them away from the body.
4. Finally, the often still-living torso would be burnt

Cheeky Britains.....

well, i live in england, so i kinda new... you don't really have a chance of not knowing when you do history (i dont btw!) the really sick thing, is you could have this done to you for petty things, such as stealing bread, money, rape, etc. ok, so maybe rape doesn't quite fit into that catagory, but, heh....

Its just like the modern equivilant of the electric chair, thats how they did things back in those days. A couple of hundred years down the line people will be saying "Jesus, those 21st centuary people were barbaric, look at all the nasty shit they did."

You forgott one realy nasty one on the brittish side...

First they force you to eat a ball of cotton that is connected to a string (problably cotton too) then they force you to drink water... And the cotton offcours starts to swell and after that they pull up the caotton ball and with it al of your intestines follows...

Nice huh?

Sounds unrealistic, I doubt cotton has the structural strencth to actually wrench out somones innerds, it is possible though I suppose.

you never know, i'm sure they have there ways. its just the same as letting a cow swallow a magnet so it shits out all the metal it ate over the last couple of weeks (this isstill done today i believe)

Cows dont check what they eat, they just grab and swallow, so obviously some stuff thats lying on the meadow gets taken in aswell

Gross.
Although cotton can swell to over 4 times its size when it gets wet. How do you think a tampon works?
