Hi guys...Im new to mappin and when i go to compile my map it doesnt make a .BSP file...it says:
Error opening C:Program FilesValveSteamSteamAppshisdeathcounter-strikecstrikemapsMapBox.bsp: No such file or directory

Any suggestions?im sure my set up is right i went over it 15 times :confused: Hope someone can help me

VHE is the only editor for CS :)
try these (in this order)
1. hit f9 and click OK, then try again.
2. try making your .bsp directory shorter (like C:maps) and see if that changes anything...make sure 'dont run the game after compiling' is checked
3. check your setup

haha i fixed it i downloaded ZHLT and used his hlbsp.exe Thanks for the help though

Omg The Problem happened again except no errors in my log...and for some reason it makes a .err...What is a .err anyway?? :nervous:

i have a question what directory in the configuriation does it say to put your maps in before running the game? it should be your half life map folder if not the game doesnt recognize it if its not that then you should carfully look over your log and post it here

First of all, I would recommend going through the Steam tutorial here.

That error usually means your Game Config/Build Programs are b0rked. Pay special attention to the use of the SUBST command in the same tutorial too, so you're working with this:

S:counter-strikecstrikemaps

instead of this:

C:Program FilesValveSteamSteamAppshisdeathcoun
ter-strikecstrikemaps

Dont capital letters in map/entities names.
