If i converted an Mp3 in wav chnaged all the stuff ect. BUT it lasted for 3 mins something. If this was triggered on a small map and was played everywhere would it lag people up badly? im talking about counter strike btw.

Uhm, well, no-one wants to hear three minutes' music in Counter-Strike. Trust me.

Don't include it. Probably ridiciculously large anyway - what size is the WAV? 20MB? 30?

ok from my map burlybrawl i got the whole song of the neo vs Smith scene which was 6 mins long :/ so i made it like 30 secs. People have tested my beta versions of the map and say they enjoy it. But for the next map i want the song to go on for 3 mins and its like 4.66mb as MP3 so as WAV and do all the stuff it will be smaller. Would it lag people up is still my question?

MP3 song : 4.66mb so as WAv it would be much smaller

ok on GOLDWAVE gte ur MP3 or watever and then open it. Click on file then BATCH PROCESSING then click on COVERT and set save as type: to WAV and underneath make it PCM unsigned 8bit,mono tick both the boxes and make it 11025 Hz. Now click on folder and find a folder when u want the final piece to go.

Now uve done all this u can use it in half life :P i hope this was useful for u even though im NOOB at map making and have just started. Im still on my first map btw :P If there are any Matrix fans then my map u will enjoy :P

Wow, that's really profound. What size it is as WAV then? ;)

Thanks, I will try it.

The Matrix 1 and 2 were great, but the third sucked.
don't worry, there are other NOOBs out there, (Like me for example) ;)

btw, the sound does not lag.. (it does when there's lots of different ones etc)

but a background tune won't
the only proble is that the people will have to wait for a long time to conect to the server, because they have to download the .wav...

umm... neo... no offense bud... did you eat paint chips as a kid?

MP3 is a sound file compression algorhythm... a standard wav file is 10megs/minute at 44100 frequency and 16 bit sound... in english bud...

the WAV is HUUUUUGE..... no one will play the map because by the time they get the darn wav file loaded the server will have been through 8 other maps... lol....

anyhow dude... my advice... take a decent section of the song... and loop it... but limit the section to like 20 secs....
