I'm still learning the countless things that are possible w/ the Source engine and instead of wasting hours and hours of fruitless time trying to figure out if this is possible or even fiasable, I thought I'd ask you guys .
Is it possible to made a door that rolls left/right, as demonstrated in my 1337 MSPaint, w/o using a model, just brushes?

Yeah, Rabid's does sound simpler. I'd beat u to the tutorial, but yours would A) Look better visually and B) Be more indepth (probably) and make for sence to the average user (according to my family, I tend to get way technical and talk over their heads, but that could just be b/c they are 'lesser' beings )

The func_rotating and func_door entities do exist in HL... Am I right? Do the same in HL as you would in Source. The func_rotating and func_door tutorials here should fill you in on what you need to do.

Yeah, they exist, but you can't tie them together like you can with Source. Instead, you have to use a func_train and use angular velocity to make it rotate. I've never done this before myself, but I've heard that's how you do it. There's a tutorial on this over at VERC, if you need to know how.

yeah . that works but the angular velocity stays the same even when the door is closing. So you would need 2 entities that teleport to the restart to get the rolling actually looking half-way decent.
Trust me i spent hours on this with the minicompo #8 i had it working with minor glitches but then i just gave up Moral: It's possible in hl1
