I didn't do anything to get this error!
It was a normail day,, I sat in my chair and thought "MAPPING TIME! :D", so I opened hammer and got this:omg lol nub wtf?
What's this?
Also, if I try making a new map or open an old map, it says "Material: Hammer gird" could not be found (or something like that).
I've tried to do the following things to fix the problem:
*Refresh SDK content
*Refresh and delete local content
*Manually delete both sourceSDK and SourceSDK_content files in steam user folder

Nothing works.
Please don't tell me to reinstal steam, cuz it sucks!

heh, hope your not on dialup, try right-clicking on the source sdk going to properties, thought they added a defrag thing/check game cache in one of the updates?

Lol, I've had the problem for a week or two, so I've restarted my computer quite some times.

Edit: Model-viewer works, seems like Hammer is the only one with problem?

Ok, faceposer works, modelviewer works, but hammer doesn't.
Is there noone else with this problem?

delete the sourcesdk folder in your steamapps/<username> directory, refresh local content and try again

Pfft from experience sometimes re-installing does shit all...Do try it Madcow but in my opinion you may and this is a big 'may' have to reinstall Steam...I remember getting that error for Steam and nothing fixed it...

But I'm guessing Hammer is the only problem so re-install and tell us how it went.

I'll try what penguinboy said, and if that doesn't work I'll reinstal steam

Make a shortcut to hammer, and put -dxlevel 80.

Others have had bugs with hammer and this fixed them.

Hehe, I think he thinks that you're trying to map for HL1 or something. Seeing as that's all he maps for, I can't see how he could have any tips on fixing this... Much like me.

So You mean that he re-instaled, but he still got the error?

When I had a hammer problem way back, it wasn't something wrong with hammer, it was actually a bad harddrive, believe it or not. But since the problem is isolated I doubt that that's the cause. Try doing a system restore to before the problem.

He said Steam loads but Hammer and any HL2 related games don't work...They just load but nothing happens.

Valve I commend you.

Anyway I for one am not receiving any problems...Again I must be on Valve's good side or something. (...Maybe it was the fact that I convinced people to buy HL2EP1)

Try going into your C:Program FilesSteamSteamAppsyoursteamnamecounter-strike or half-life etc. and then delete a file that its name is this or something like this --------->steam_103377_2004_11_5. It worked for me!
