I cant see in my 3d view anymore in hammer! Its all black. I wait thinking its loading, but to no avail! What the FUCK!!!! Maps take double to load now too in the SDK! Anyone getting this too?

Ive been reading on the VAlve forums and others are having this problem too

Gonna try some things now...I hope they fixed rotating objects...This better not be just an Episode One config...

Error no. 1: Missing gameinfo.txt in sourcemods folder...Ahem...
Error no. 2: Missing another gameinfo...
Error no. 3: And now another!!!!
And again...It keeps saying missing gameinfo in folders like maps, materials etc...Not too happy with this...

Right sorted...But now I am even more annoyed cause i have to manually change this:

O, I see HL2 Episode 1 in my list now...

Opens up...First error...Can't see anything in the 3D view...Thank God this didn't happen as I finished up my compo map. The rotation tool is still broken...

Places an NPC_Fisherman and it brings up Barney...And NPC_Furniture?...I see Ministrider as well...And at last the Zombine. I placed a ministrider and Hammer crashed. Hunter is gonna love this...<_>

God damn Im really pissed! I had to change the text files too on Twilight Parallax mod, and Garrys Mod 9.

They better fix the black 3d window! Wow just when I had a really good idea for my map!!! ARGH!!!

Do these errors happen when you reload the SKD?
I'm compiling the compo map, so I won't close Hammer until it's done, just in case...

no black 3d window, no gameinfo errors, only the changing the appID, and im not even gunna do that, except for my own mod files.

valve wins!

just so everyone knows im running a nvidia 6600GT.
ati users seem to get all the problems, eh?

To fix the 3D view just pick like 3D textured in the dropdown. Fixed it for me.

At first I didn't understand the camera fix...But I had no idea you could make static cameras...Cool. Simply click on the gridlines with the camera tool and then it will fix...Will I have to do this everytime...

The answer is yes...And now all my floors are ultra shiny in Hammer...

Well at least Valve gave us the cs_militia vmf...Also we can see overlays now..The huge block in the middle is transparent.

The new 3D lighting preview isn't working either and the point_spotlight is easier to click. Logic view lets you see how entities are connected supposedly.

To fix most prblems, run HL2, CSS etc before modding.

Oh and the 3D model viewer is faster.

But here some new interesting things - in prop_static models there to new params (about selfshading and lightning (?)) . I map for some hours and have no problems with cameras - only leafs on my trees models dont shown in 3D.

Rotation tool when you rotate something but if you told tab is rotates 45 degrees. This does not work any more...So it's hard to align objects.

Rotating an object 45 degrees isn't rocket science.

Just rotate it so it's half way....

The rotate tool isn't good anyway, it just throws the vertices off the grid. I use the vertex tool to rotate brushes.

It may not be but it saves seconds when rotating something to quickly clip or vertix. Then you can simply rotate back without having to zoom in and check if it's straight. Which most of the time isn't...

Im just happy about how the new model browser isn't REALLLLY slow.. But it will take a slight getting used to.. Not much I would think.

If you map and then minimize to say chat with a friend on MSN...After maximising again...Hammer crashes.

I don't know if I'm lucky or somethin' but the only error I got was the gameinfo.txt one. I haven't had a problem w/ hammer yet, though I've only used it once and I loaded it through a shortcut, not the SDK window (don't really use it).

The gameinfo error has added a load of random mods in my Steams list like maps, cgi etc...ARGH and it crashes so easily! I CAN'T MAP! I'm not one to bash Valve cause while everyone else had problems and I didn't...But now I am getting errors and that my good lads...bites the dust on this one.

You can also get the 3D view to display by selecting an object in any 2D view and press ctrl-shift-e to focus the camera on the object.

EDIT: also, restart windows after the downdate.. oops, update.. to (apparently) resolve some launch problems with Hammer, Steam launching, etc.

That's the error which stops me from getting in.

gameinfo.txt in a text document in the game folder (say HL2, it's in Half-Life 2hl2...CS:S, it's in counter-strike sourcecstrike). Just open it in notepad or whatever, search for SteamAppId and change it's value to 215. Simple.

I just discovered an odd error that's come up since the update but I'm not sure if it's related. Before when I went to use hammer, I only had Steam open and hidden in the system tray (didn't bother opening the SDK), and opened hammer from a desktop shortcut. Now, I can't even open the app directly w/o the SDK open or I get this error:

I can still play all my games, so the problem isn't w/ Steam itself.

Wow, reflections that are masked are not visible in hammer anymore. Its one crappy looking reflection now. I really hate this fuckin update!

likewise: non-reflective textures (IE, textures I haven't cubemapped yet) glisten in full, reflective glory. Rather annoying, but it doesnt show up in-game, and it's rather interesting to look at :P

It's official..Valve have messed it up...
In Hammer textures appear double their scale but if you fit it and try it in-game then it comes out too small...Argh!

Also, Hammer used to display masked reflections in the editor. Now masked reflections appear as just regular reflections, but 10 times brighter. Its hard to work with the bright reflections shining all over my mountian when it should be masked........

I have not experienced that Habboi. Maybe your default texture size in the tools menu is set higher or lower than 0.25?

No Xy, my scale has always been 0.25 and all the textures appear too big, at least any new textures I make aka a new wall with some texture like brickwall/1. They appear double their size and it's annoying, I can't add much to my map...Oh and double wtf to the fact that I made two rooms and only one appeared in the map, I nocliped everywhere.

And now this caught my eye:

I also ran into another problem that never happened before the update. In material .vmt files, "$basealphaenvmapmask" "texturefoldername/texturename. This line tells source to go the the alpha channel of the material for a reflective mask (If the texttures only has a reflection and no bumpmap) Now, the material glitches in hammer when I use this for masking. Now, Im really pissed because now I have to bumpmap every texture and place the reflective mask in the alpha channel of the bumpmap.

Argh!

I'm pissed 'cuz I can't do a thing w/ Hammer. Every time I try to load one of my maps, Hammer goes black and freezes. What baffles me is hlcoders mentions how they were testing it in house and it wouldn't be released if it was buggy. How the fuck did all these bugs mak it past VALVe? What the fuck are they paying their coders for? Granted that I know very little about coding and the process for their in-house testing, but how did all this shit slip by them? Honestly, did they test it w/ their eyes closed? They said it was a beta release, but I pray they fix it soon.

Yes, I am being a major ass and shit, but I still think a release that sends a program from the rare glitch to impossible to LOAD, you're not really doin' a good job. Chew me out if you want, but I stand by my comments.
