hey since i'm a noob, im not sure if i'm getting this lighting stuff right.

i have two rooms (with sky) connected by a hallway. Both have a light_environment entity with:

PYR: 0 0 0
Pitch: -90
Brightness: 255 255 120 50

One of the rooms is the ct spawn (cs map), and the light_environment in that room works, but the light_environment in the other room does not.

You only need one light environment, and it can be anywhere. However, I always set the pitch as 0. The brightness etc will be the same wherever there's a sky.

well, not really...

name an info_null and make a light_spot target it to use light spots...

hmm if i only need one, why is my other room that has sky not lit up?

You only need one light_environment IF your using Zoner's tools, which you should be. light_spots can be used as an environment light by setting the Is Sky property to Yes.

well i fixed it. it seems that i had only the sky texture on the bottom part of the ceiling, and after i changed the whole ceiling (including the faces facing the void) so that it was all textured "sky", it worked. Thanks guys!
