Here's a small selection of ideas I've since left abandoned. I'd like to see them made into something, but what? How?

(Yes they are annoying editor shots)

Maybe its just me but I'm always for the Single Player stuff. You integrate the tech lab and the space scenes into a single player mod or multiplayer map.

The mansion? uhm...Maybe a horror themed map with puzzles (Resi Evil style) :biggrin:

Third reminds me of that level from Goldeneye with the rocket.

I'd copy bits of the architecture and form a new map.

1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th: breathtaking...

The 1st and 3rd where you can see outside the ship are excellent... you better finish that shite!!1

Remember thumnails are our friends, but by no means feel obligated to heed my advice on this matter... most don't, in fact. :)

Looks alright, texturing is quite awfull... but I guess that's just me hating HL textures. ;)

New HL Deathmatch Map in Progress (Editor Shots)

Basically, in this map individual players get the chance to operate a quick moving heavy machine gun turret in the centre of the main arena area. A trigger_camera will provide a birdseye view of the gun in operation. After 20 seconds, the player is teleported to a pit where he faces the ultimate doom, getting crushed by spiked walls (to make it fair).

...Or whatever.

The connectivity works well at the moment, it's not exactly finished - the textures will change, but for now they are temporary.

Another interesting feature of this map will me a gun turret that activates at the end of a hallway leading towards the gauss gun (or other item/weapon).

If anyone has any ideas/suggestions/criticisms, please go ahead... :P

It looks promising. You might want to work on an original texture set to make it more unique.

I disagree. If the texturing looks shit in the editor, it looks shit in-game.

DM map looks nice, texturing seriously needs work. It's to grey and bland.

Texturing in the editor will always look worse than in-game because the lighting in the editor is constant, whereas the actual in-game lighting gives it more depth.

If the texturing is downright crappy, then it will look terrible in-game. The only way to find out is to compile and look.

Awesome lookin maps Jazel. You make me want to get HL1 :) .

Everything's fine now. I've completely retextured everything, architecture is complete - the only thing left is lighting and entity work.

Should be up and running for playtesting either later tonight or tomorrow at some time...

...Map's going along great. Everything works properly so far!

Just need to add weapons and player starts - and maybe a few special effects here and there. I'm away this weekend, so it looks like it'll have to be released withing the next week or so.

texturing in the first screenshots is great, very innovative use of the hl.wad except for the mansion, good try but it doesn't really cut it.
