would someone help me on a MOD, I realize dit takes a LONG time to do one by yourself, and i'm not as good as some people at doing it. if you want to see what the MOD is, then look at the forum "Howz my Idea?"

Well, the bad new is, you need to start all the hard stuff yourself, - if its good enough, you will get people interested, and they will ask you to join, and not the other way arround

what are you willing to do? I know I need something done, probably easy, but don't know how. Would you take it and make it work?

if not, can you make a map for it? one that is getting out of BM.

where you already have a pistol, ammo, crowbar, and suit, thats all.

I don't need a massive team, I don't plan on haveing 50 levels of non stop action, with awsome arcitecture that takes a day a room, but I plan to have like 20-30 levels of mindboggling, headcrab smashing, ingenous design.

but, well see how it goes. its the story line that matters a lot in this one.

Before you get going on this project.....
Has anyone asked SlayerA how he created Minimicus?
Anyone bothered to ask him how long it took, how many times he redid all the maps and how hard it was to get it to the stage where he thought it was finished?

You might want to try that before you "boldly go where everyone else has been before".
It might mean the difference between another Mod that will never happen, or an actual Mod that has been posted and downloaded over two thousand times and reviewed in 5 languages.

Just a thought... why not ask someone who has done it?

And best of luck with it.
Let me know when it is finished and I will post a News article.

Oh, and ministeve, just to make shure you know, the guy already has a pistol and crowbar.

hey, does anyone know how to make a custom monster? Because Black Mesa was nuked, we could have mutated aliens, or the unlucky grunts that didn't make it out in time, or a mix.

Custom monsters? Hm, maybe you could just replace the models provided you gave them all the same animations. There's a tutorial here by Vassy about reskinning though, that's easy! :)

OK, here it goes.
if you already know the story line, then you know where we are.  The character is in Black Mesa, and needs to get out, because the aliens are there and they find them.  so far, I did the first part of the BM part of the MOD, and we need some fluff in the middle.  the character,(Kyle Johanson) has already got the crowbar, and the pistol, and has killed a few aliens.  make the place all broken and destroyed, with holes and evidence of explosions.  this is becuase BM was Nuked, but a little part of it underground still lives, and has aliens in it.  THere are no grunts or people, besides anyone you want on your team to be there.  the scientists that came with you are still alive, exept a few that were with your group.  It can be a little like teh first HL, only with signs of death and explosion, just make a bunch of fighting, or puzzle places.  ITs to add exitment, not just have the whole thing be a story line.

Mini, the MOD is on my website, and is not for the public, but I know some fool will download it. because I can't e-mail it (too big) you have to get it from the website. Sorry. IT might take a while to get, but could you proof check the first few levels?

Well, let me tell something about what happened with/to me a year ago. Someone had an idea for a 'crazy fun mod'. I liked it so I joined. At last, we had 5 people who wanted do go for it. It quickly shrunk to 3...

These 3 went on. Well, after a while all 3 where still there but only one really worked. Not me... :( So at last we decided to stop it. It was not gonna work.

You see, we had no idea, no plan for the mappack. Well, a vague idea, a sort of concept but we never detailed it and never put on paper what our goals were, working kinda isolated, only now and then sharing some maps. That was all. After a while, we had no will to map for it anymore. It was no fun anymore and we didn't had the idea it was really important no more...

Well, I'm not that experienced modder, I can only tell fromthis experience now...

So I want to say: know what you're doing from beforehand. SunTzu said: A good general wins the war before the troops engage... A bad general engages first and seeks victory after that...
So: plan it first...

THnks for the advice, but I think we have taken a nice approch. I'm giving assignments to people, and taking the maps, so I put it all together. If no one wants to do it, then I will finish it. This won't fail, because I won't let it. we already have 5 maps done, and I'd hate to see that go in the crapper, seeing that I did 4 of them. I have already started doing some of the maps that are near to the end, and have givin assignments to the other three people. They SHOULD be working on them, and I bet they are. see, your old teams aproche was to all work as equal, and I think that is bad, since there would be arguing and people dropping out. I just tell them what to do, and wait, I let them take as long as they want. the whole MOD was planned in my head before I started, but I expected 5 people to help, where now there is only 3, but I will manage.

When picking a mod team always pick someone who's maybe slightly better than you -

That way, you don't need to worry about getting them up to standard with the rest of the team -

ideally your mod should not have more than 5/7 mappers working together - you can have more of course depending on the mod size and leadership
