I have noticed no threads have been made for dod1.3 at all. So im here to start one. Im a serious mapper. Interested in crreating a map for dod 1.3 I have just above basic knowlege with hammer/gfc scape/wally.. etc..

To begin, I started by finding my dod 1.3 wads which was hard to find. I googled and found it after one hour. Then realizing that using GFC Scape I could load up the GFCScape and search in steam/steamapps/day of defeat.gfc . Once there i found the wads I extracted them into a specified folder and started up wally.

( reason for doing this )
  • For some reason if i used anzio.wad, and created my map with only thoes textures and compiled.. Once entering the game I would get the error saying anzio.wad does not exist. " I can't explain this problem, however to correct this I had to copy anzio.wad and place it into my email@hotmail.com/dod/ folder ... " - this replaced that problem.
So with wally I chose the .wad files that I was planing on using for my map and decided to create my custom .wad file and start up hammer.

* Caution *

When choosing the .wad files that you plan on using, only choose 1-4 .wad files when you are merging the .wads you have selected into one. If you choose more then that you may come across a terrible error when trying to compile your map.
Once everything is set up with hammer and your wad file is ready. Start creating your map. (Remember it is always better to have an idea or plan of what you are trying to create before you start making).
Problems that im not sure how to answer.

I have searched this site and several others on how to add " tank " models into hammer or anything other.. Someone told me use wally to extract the tank model in the dod/models folder however "wally" does not allow you to open .mdl files.. only texture files.

If someone can help me and others with this problem I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

I also have had problems with models, because there isn't really a tut that explains it really well. Use a cycler entity, and select the model from the properties.
