Even cooler with the ChaosUT mutator.

That yellow shotgun type from UT 99'.
It shot fire balls or something like that, anyways, it was cool.

Well mine has to be multiple weapons from the same game. I really loved the Vector Cannon in Zone of the Enders 2 as it had all these cool effects and it was so powerful. Then there's the sword attack which I like for its fast speed and lastly there's Zero Shift which in a way isn't a weapon but more of a way to help in battle. Using compressed space and releasing it at the right time the mech can travel at fast speeds from point a to b.

I'd definately say the good ole' Rocket Launcher from classic Doom.. Especially when used against imps. I like they way they made that crackly noise as they flew backwards...

...I like most of the Doom weapons actually, they bring back a lot of memories. I used to marvel in how 'realistic' they looked, hehehe, those were the days. :glad:

Most of the UT weapons kicked ass. The Plasma gun was probably my fav.

My all-time-favourite though is probably the Terran's nuke from StarCraft. How I loved mashing everyone with that. :nuke:

I have a lot of favorites... it just depends what I'm playing really.

I like the Plasma Gun in Doom 3, that's pretty nice.

.30 Caliber MG in Day of Defeat: Source. (Of course, and in dods, all the allies weapons are more accurate =D)

and of course, sometimes something simple and classic from Counter-Strike turns me on too. cough Famas cough

The Tri-Rocket Launcher from Jet Force Gemini. The alien/bug things would make such satisfying splattering noises when they exploded. :D

Duel wielding Spikers from Halo 3, or the M4a1(any game, although Perfect Dark Zero had my fav m4 model of all time)

Even though you can change it quite easily... and that's why my CS:S M4 has ACOG.

If Portal counts, then the ASHPD takes the cake for this one. If not, then the gravity gun gets it.
And just because I want to give it an honorable mention; the type-7 particle weapon form FEAR was pretty great too, mostly because of the awesome disentegration effects that always followed.(fuck the Quake rail gun)

Steyr aug wins in the real weapons department, that's a beautiful gun.

well, now that i think about it. the first Turok game for the 64 had some fun weapons. The top three were my favorites. Which includes the pulse wave gun that fried a person black in his tracks then electrically explodes. Plus it was the only gun that could kill the monkeys. :

The next one fires a miniature red star that goes 5 feet and explodes in a moderately believable nuclear explosion for its time. Effectively wiping anything (including you) from existance.

The last one is the chronoscepter. A gun that is pieced together throughout the course of the entire game. It fires a hard-beam into a target, upon impact, it curves straight down and sends the target flying upward, then explodes in a wave of blue plasma in a way much larger then the redstar gun, killing everything within a good mile of the radius, except the lost boss, which only takes an 4th of his health and seems to be the only effective weapon against him, and you only get 3 shots.

We need more weapons like that.

The mag charger from Time Splitters 3 was also pretty damn sweet. A full rifle that deployed from a tiny, handheld square that could look and shoot through walls.
Damn, there's too many of them.

The rail gun from Red Faction was ownage.

So is the BAR from WWII based games.

I like desert eagles, so the one from CSS?

T3H REDEEMER!!!

I would have to say UT's (UT:GOTY and UT2004) Sniper Rifle. Rather handy when someone is using the aforementioned Redeemer.

(The lightning gun from UT2003 sucked balls, its just not the same.)

the BFG in doom was pretty cool

Seems like newer games have taken a step towards realism when it comes to weapons. You don't really see those BFG/Redeemer types of weapons in games nowadays :(
Posted 16 years ago2007-07-19 00:45:15 UTC Post #229535
@World Crafter:

The reason I didn't mention it, is because I really don't like it. It was only good for boss battles, at which time the bosses were so powerful, it was like shooting peas at your friend. (Explosive peas none-the-less)

Using it versus anything else would be crazy. Not to mention the tight spaces you're confined to, make the AOE pretty nasty towards youself.

And then finally, you only get it for short periods in the game (first hell knight, obtaining soul cube, cyberdemon [besides the fact only the soul cube could actually damage the cyberdemon], very end of the expansion for the final boss).

@Saribous:

That's almost too true, I haven't played many games like that recently (WITH God-like weapons). I haven't got around to playing some games yet (Lost Planet, but by the sounds of it, it's just another FPS game with guns to be modified of what we have present day).

Assault Rifle from Halo (1/3), just like the way it looks, good starter weapon.

P90, (R6:Vegas), favorite actual gun.

As far as cool weapons go, I think Perfect Dark had some of the greatest, remember the Black Hole Hand Grenade (It is a grenade that when is thrown creates a small black hole killing everything near it), and the Reaper (a chaingun like weapon that in it's secondary form became a crude drill, take that gears!)? The Lancer (Gears of War) is also a pretty cool weapon, if only the multiplayer didn't suck balls for gears.
