Well at last I got TF2...But the bad thing is it doesnt work :(
When I try to run the game, the game closes after I see the splash screen. And it also says "The game needs directx 8.0 as minimum req."

I got, NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440
64.0 MB
DirectX 9.0c
Windows XP
And I downloaded the latest drivers for the card
93.71 Forceware Winxp2k International_whql

It should work, HL2 works so does the other source mods.
And I really want to play TF2. How can I make it work?

That's the same card I had in my old PC. It ran HL2 and CS:S, though I doubt it could handle EP1, not to mention 2.

The engine's updated with every Episodic release, meaning more power required to run it. I don't think an MX440 could handle the fancier effects in TF2. :(

I believe it lacks the shader support you need.

they dropped DX7 support with the EP2 engine. spend a very small amount of money on an AGP dx9 card (7900GS, say) or get a new computer :|

damn...
Well I tried 3D Analyzer...and it certainly doesnt make it work.

I guess I'll go look for some cheap card with Pixel Shader 1.1 support to play tf2

No, you want Shader Model 2 at the very least. Grab an nVidia card, they're all Shader Model 3: they moved to SM3 ages ago.

as i said, make sure it's AGP. 7600/7900 series are cheap, and they have AGP versions, and they'll play TF2 quite well.
