So I have somewhat of an idea of what I want to do, just not sure how to do it.
I tend to sleep in late in the mornings when I really should be up so I can get some work done. Now, I don't have an alarm clock, and I really don't feel like purchasing a beeping piece of shit if I can find away around this.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a way that I could turn off, or hibernate my computer and have it turn back on at a certain time of day and then play some music. Any ideas?

That should be pretty easy to program with, for example, vb.net. You will have to leave your computer running overnite.

Ah well I heard of some people pulling it off with the hibernate function. I just couldn't find anything online. But I really didn't know what exactly to search for.

To turn on hibernate, folow these steps:

1. Rightclick on your desktop and choose properties
2. Click the Screensaver tab.
3. Click the Energy/Power button. This opens a new dialog.
4. Click the hibernate tab, and check the checkbox.

Now, when you click Start, Shutdown, you can click the new button.

I don't know how to make your computer to exit hibernate. Maybe there's a function in vb.NET that is fired when you exit hibernate. Then it would be possible to play some music or something.

I use Vista so it comes with that all activated.
I'll figure a way eventually.

I do it all the time..

Just open up the scheduled task folder, click on the wizard, and when it asks what you're opening select a music file.

It should play on your default music player.

Then you just set what times you want it to play-

Will it work in Hibernate mode though?
