Let's see I've looked around a bit to see if I could find a solution to this problem I'm having with prefabs but I haven't been able to get a start on it yet. I've just about got all the other kinks worked out and Hammer works fine. But in Prefab Factory I've not a single library. I remember in the day there used to be some standard ones that were just there such as the Usable library but theres nothing. Could I have set something up incorrectly? Or is there a way to get those libraries?

If the libraries (.ol files) are in HammerRootDir/prefabs, Hammer should read them. If not, there's probably a configuration error.

Alrighty, so it seems i may have set up my Hammer without an installer - i mean i found the folder Hammer was running from and found the prefabs subfolder as well as that library file, so now i guess I'll just have to back-track a bit and install Hammer properly lol.

You should always use the installer, or else the programm may not function properly.

this may get tricky cause i only have the 3.5 build - its pretty bare too... no help file or installer of its own, and its become difficult to find earlier Hammer version installers.

3.5 is actually just an update.

First, get this: http://www.themightyatom.nl/hldownloads/hammer_v34.exe
and install it.

Then apply the 3.5 update by overwriting the existing hammer.exe

You may also need these:

Many thanks!!! That 3.4 installer is what I was losing my head trying to find lol, I think I got it now... Thx

Yeah, hammer 3.4 was "interesting" to find after VERC shut down

I didn't know Muzzleflash had all those downloads. I guess thats what i get for not checking his site more closely.

As for 3.5 being that easy to install, i learned something today. Time to go update i guess

3.4 is also in the SDK.

A link is on this site somewhere too.

SDK, you mean for source? thats 4.0 i believe, and the hammer links in the links page no longer work because they pointed to VERC.

We should have the hammer links in there point to muzz's site.

HL1 also has its SDK. Also available on my site.

Yes, thats the one I was speaking of, I think I might have gotten the HL1 SDK off your site there MuzzelFlash.

Note that you need C++ compiler to compile the SDK.

Duly noted, I just use a free c++ compiler
Posted 16 years ago2008-08-16 05:20:25 UTC Post #253855
You can't, you must use the C++ compiler that comes with Visual Studio 6.

Well, you don't have to. There's a version of the SDK compilable with g++ here.

heh, i didn't know that existed, but my point still stands for the version on muzz's site :P

G++ is a great program.
It's command line only, but it's not too hard to set up
