Heres the thing, I would like to know what would be the latest Hammer version that does not require steam. I uselly do my mapping on a computer that does not have internet. I am a bit confused on the diferent versions.

Also, I belive I am running the oldest version of Half-Life. (I got the game from a pawn shop for like $3! Yeah!)
Anyways, I am having trouble trying to find updates for it.

Sorry If Im not explaning the situation clearly. Thanks! :glad:

The only version of hammer that requires Steam is the one which comes with the Source SDK.

I currently use Hammer 3.4 which is a standard application.

Install Hammer 3.4, and after that patch it to Hammer 3.5 beta.

You do know you can just enter your Half-Life CD key in Steam to get Steam Half-Life right?

After you have installed Hammer 3.4 and patched it to Hammer 3.5 unpack ZHLT (included in the package) and configure Hammer to use it.

IT's like comparing Windows XP with Vista.

There's no comparison.

Worldcraft was a dog for texturing and moving the camera. I like my alignment options and 'z' in 3d view thank you very much.
There's no comparison.
Not True! They have the same logo :rly:

I finally was able to get to my computer at another house and installed hammer. But when I tried to test my level it says that it can not find the server for my level?!?
What?!?

Anyways, I looked around on my old Worldcraft and remebered that it is the version that came with the game, 2.0!
And yes there are a few differences, like the HINT Brush, for example. :P

HINT has nothing to do with Hammer/WorldCraft... It's a special texture used by the compile tools.

Hammer 3.5 beta has model support. That means that you can see the actual models (monsters, weapons, ammo, items, etc) in the editor. This required a fgd file that supports this also. Its available on my site.
