I'm looking for an i_slave player model for hl1dm. I searched everywhere and only found one with some missing animations. Can anyone convert the alien slave model to a player model? I would really appreciate it.

The main issue with that model would be the skeletal system and animations. Converting the islave to a player model would also mean recreating all 100+ animations to work with that skeleton system.

There was an alien slave player model with the PS2 version of half-life but that only had animations suited to its unique attacks, not for use with HLDM's other weapons.

That's absurd, you don't have to recreate anything. You can import the mesh, line it up with a normal player's placeholder pose, and assign the vortigaunt's mesh to the player bones. Its the same method people use to convert things like custom CSS animations to DOD and such.
I can have this done for you late Sunday/Monday, but right now I'm away from the dorm, and don't have access to my desktop PC.

Yeah but consider the vorts extra arm and the fact that his limb joints bend in the opposite direction to that of a human.

If you wanted it to look and act like a vort, animations would need tweaking.

note: Also the i_slave player model with missing animations is the PS2 version. (HD i_slave).

edit: Here it is the dm_slave player model with the missing animations. I'm not sure if it would be any help.

Well...I played POV. But never thought of looking if the player models was an alien_slave. Can anybody check because I don't have it installed atm?

I don't believe it is. At points when you see yourself in 3rd person I believe they just spawned a slave...

I know, that's true. Since the slave was in the 3rd person cutscenes was very slow and didn't perform any of the animations that a player model should have. But there is still a chance that the gordon player model could have been replaced by an alien_slave player model or just some null model. Since we only see ourselves in the first intro movie and then the player gets teleported after you enter the secret door. That's as much as I can remember about POV. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I remember seeing a whole bunch of cutscenes, like that bit where you're captured and put in a tube or the time you're on some metal walkway and I think Gman spots you?

But to be honest you should quickly install it since I don't think anyone here still has it in their Steam list.

If I do it, it would likely be really humanoid since it does need to fit on the skeleton.

Also made a hilarious discovery, I can burrow the players the same way i burrow the Glizards for 6D. I could change the ducking animation to be underground. It'd be friggin lulzy to do it. :P Talk about some serious hide-and-seek.

I really need that model so do the best you can :)
But do not add extra stuff like burrow. As the model is going to take place in serious team-matches.

yeah i wasn't serious about the burrowing. I'll certainly give it a shot.

what kind of team matches are they? it is important since the silhouette should be rather variant from the other team. Also, are other skins a possible necessity?

oh, i guess i should locate that HD slave someplace....

The morph is very fugly, hardly looks like a vort aside from a few distinguished features. it doesn't have the geometry to support the level of animation, unlike the suit next to it. Plus its proportions can't get much better since it is constricted to the bones.

EDIT: SAJO, post the one with missing animations, I can finish that up and it would likely be better than what I'm trying to do.

EDIT2: Nevermind. Nabbed it from a previous post. Will see what can be done by me to help my brother who is in trouble there said Rimrook aloud. [/nerd]

EDIT3: There is a lot missing from that model, but luckily its mostly the blending poses for the various weapons and aiming angles. there's only about 50 of them... yeah it may take a while.

What is this for exactly? just HL1DM or a mod?

For a clan that I'm also in. We needed an alien_slave player model since the clan was called "Xen". I searched everywhere but couldn't find any.

Here is also our website http://www.xenizm.com/, which is under construction atm. And also here is a small logo If you could add it on the alien_slave as a texture it would be awesome ^^ . But I couldn't really think of any place to put it? Hmm. Maybe on the collar? But I think the texture on collar only work with chrome ticked...

edit: Ok, I think I got excited a bit too much. Let's see if the model works first :(

I have one, it is an actual player model, i have yet to see it used in-game but it uses the original monster animations in replacement of the player ones. As far as i can tell it should work. You download the XDM half-life mod, thats where i got it from:

i installed both patches hotdog mentioned to a seperate directory and there is no slave player model i can see...

(

EDIT: oh it somehow uses the original monster animations as hotdog already said... weird
