It's UP TO 10mb. That's how they do it. It's all server location too. I'm in Nova Scotia, Canada. If I test with the closest recommended server, I get this.

At home I get a measly 213kpbs down/213 up. When I was staying in the college dorms I got ~25,000kpbs down/~1500 up. How I miss that.

It's supposed to be 8 MB/s but my brother and my mother and is using the Internet and my father is watching broadband TV so I guess it's good.
I got an extremely high ping when I selected a server in Melbourne, Australia:
Poor Australians... so many game servers are in Europe and North America.

Is that me that you are asking? Well anyway I use Virgin Media which unlike the other companies use fibre optic whereas the others use the old copper wire. UK supposedly has the worst speeds but a really good wiring structure all over.

From what I've seen. Most good links download at around an average of 500 KBS - 1000. Torrents have gone up to 2000 KBS depending on the ones I use.
In other words, most of the time, downloads don't use the full speed >_<
This was the best I got in 08. But look at Spags D: Does anyone even need that much?

Just a note for everyone: Mb (megabit) isn't the same as MB (megabyte). Internet speed is most often measured in Mb/s or Kb/s.
