i remember a tool that i had on my old pc for compiling maps called the compiler. if anyone could link me that would be great.

Don't know if it's the one you mean, but The Compilator is the best available option.

Yeah, our own Muzzleflash/The Mighty Atom made the compilator, and a nice piece of work it is.
