Is there any way to trigger an event from the console? Say I'm testing a map, and I want to test an entity set without having to wait for all the conditions to be met, can I trigger said entity set from the console using its entity name?

Source****** has ent_fire but I dunno about goldsource.

Edit - Hell that was a typo

I think I read somewhere that you can, can't remember how though.

Just add a debug switch that when pressed activates the stuff.

Spirit has the very handy fire <targetname> console command

@naserve: Not a bad idea, although it would be unpreferrable with large maps at the time of recompiling without the debug buttons.

@vs49688: Thanks, that would be interesting, but I'm not sure I'd like to fiddle with the HL source.

@ChickenFist: It's in my list of things to try.

Thanks.

Yeah, spirit has the fire command, an ent that lets the mapper use the console so you can activate godmode ect. by triggering it, and a debug gun. And a whole lot more.

Yeah it is.
http://www.goannasvencoop.com/sphinx/FTP/mods/spirit_of_half-life/ Most mods use 1.5a4, it's the latest (good) official verison
http://www.twhl.co.za/forums.php?thread=14909 And if you're going to code, this is a good water, although it can't move.

The latest official version is 1.8a1. However, the source code for 1.8a1 is nowhere to be found.

...And 1.8a1 has ugly sparks over NPCs when they think sometimes. So, that's bad.

NPCs think??

Very badly, yes. their AI makes them think.
The sparks also happen in 1.8a1 when they do scripted sequences and sentences.
